Mini spicy meatballs with white wine

A grown up spicy meatball with a white wine kick - perfect finger food for match watchers

Growing up in Rome, I had a wonderful nanny, Tata Rosa, who used to make the most delicious and smallest meatballs, which my siblings and I loved to eat. I nowadays replicate them –when I’m feeling patient enough to roll tiny balls - for my daughters who also love them. Serve as canapes and finger food, which work a treat.

Ingredients

3-4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1 onion, finely chopped

3 garlic cloves, crushed

Good pinch of cayenne pepper or chilli powder – to taste

2-3 rosemary stalks

200ml white wine, approx

2 medium eggs

¼ tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp nutmeg

500g minced beef or lamb or a mix of both

40g/4 tbsp breadcrumbs

50m water

sea salt and black pepper, to taste
