A prestigious French university has expelled a student for making antisemitic remarks on social media.

Kuwaiti Amira Jumaa is the first student to be expelled from Sciences Po since the institution was founded in 1872.

The 20-year-old was carrying out an internship at the French embassy in New York as part of her studies when the posts she made on Facebook during an online debate with an Israeli student came to light.

She wrote to the Israeli: “You don’t belong anywhere in this world — that’s why you guys are scum and rats and discriminated against wherever you are. Do not blame it on the poor Palestinians.”
