Iryna Zarutska was stabbed on a bus in North Carolina and some on the right have accused the media of ‘covering up’ her killing

A UFC fighter has posted an antisemitic tweet in response to the murder of a Ukrainian refugee in the US, which some have claimed is being “covered up” by the media.
Iryna Zarutska was fatally stabbed on a bus in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 22 and footage of the attack has been shared widely online.
However, national media coverage of the murder was limited in the following days, leading to the promulgation of a conspiracy theory online that outlets were suppressing the story because the alleged killer was African American and had a lengthy criminal record.
Yesterday, in response to a tweet comparing the number of articles about the case published by the New York Times to those published about the murder of George Floyd (which sparked nationwide protests), UFC middleweight Marvin Vettori tweeted: “F*** all these people, this s*** is getting out of hand, they control everything.
"F*** these Ashkenazi Jews who want control over the world. Here I said it.”
In a follow up tweet, he added: “I have some friends that are Jews and they are great people, they have the right to believe in real Judaism but if they would come to me and ask me why you say this I would tell them that if they stand by this Zionist agenda where they are the chosen and they stand by what the Talmud says and etc, then I guess we can part ways.”
A review of Vettori’s social media profile shows that he has previously shared content from Candace Owens, who has referred to Israel as a “demonic nation” and shared conspiracies about Jews using the blood of Christian children in rituals, and has claimed that “Zionism and national socialism are driven by the same principles”.
And this is not the first occasion of a UFC fighter sharing antisemitic views. In January, featherweight Bryce Mitchell called Adolf Hitler a “good guy” who was “purifying” Germany by expelling “greedy Jews”.
During the first episode of his new podcast, Arkansanity, Mitchell also denied the Holocaust and suggested that Hitler had good intentions before becoming addicted to methamphetamine.
"I honestly think that Hitler was a good guy based on my own research – not my public education, indoctrination. I really do think before Hitler got on meth, he was a guy I’d go fishing with," Mitchell said.
He added: “He fought for his country, he wanted to purify it by kicking out the greedy Jews that were destroying his country and turning them [Germans] all into gays.
"They were gaying out the kids, they were queering out the women, they were queering out the dudes.
"You know the books that everybody makes fun of Hitler burning? You know what the books was? [sic.] Queer books...Hitler didn’t want a bunch of queers destroying his nation, they can’t produce children.”
The UFC has been contacted for comment.
