Donald Trump’s chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, is reportedly in a clash with the president’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner.

According to the Daily Beast, Mr Bannon called Mr Kushner, who is Jewish, a “Cuck” and a “Globalist” - terms that carry antisemitic undertones, and are often used by the radical alt-right.

Tensions between the two senior presidential advisers have been building up for a while. Mr Bannon, who was removed from his position on the National Security Council this week due to a “reorganisation”, headed Mr Trump’s presidential campaign and is believed to be very close to the president.

Recently, however, Mr Bannon has been accusing Mr Kushner, who is married to Mr Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, of trying to “shiv him and push him out the door.”

This week, the rift between the two escalated when Mr Bannon called Mr Kushner a “cuck” and a “globalist”. A “cuck”, short for “Cuckservative”, is an alt-right term used to describe conservatives who have been played and influenced by liberals.

“Globalist” is a term used by right-wingers to describe the “elites” who allegedly have control over the world’s finances - a term with distinct antisemitic undertones.

Before Mr Trump’s presidential campaign, Mr Bannon, who is a self-described “nationalist”, was the head of Breitbart News, an alt-right news website often associated with antisemites.

With Mr Kushner being Jewish, the two slurs used by Mr Bannon put a new unpleasant spin on the ongoing war between the two. When asked about his relationship with Mr Kushner, Mr Bannon has reportedly said he “loves a gunfight”.
