"[CBS News editor] Weiss has been so vocal in her support of the country that she faces frequent death threats.
"She and her wife, The Free Press co-founder Nellie Bowles, require a detail of five bodyguards that costs the studio $10,000-$15,000 a day.
"There has also been a noticeable step-up in security measures around the company’s executive leadership.”
The company, which owns CBS, MTV and Nickelodeon, now reportedly "maintains a list of talent it will not work with because they are deemed to be 'overtly antisemitic'".
It has also openly denounced a letter, signed by stars including Javier Bardem and Emma Stone, calling for a boycott on the Israeli film industry.
The letter, organised by Film Workers for Palestine, received more than 1,200 signatures, including high-profile names like Mark Ruffalo and Olivia Coleman.
And Variety’s report suggested that Weiss’ recent appointment was coupled with the network letting go of several senior staff members seen as having an “anti-Israel bent”, reportedly including CBS foreign correspondent Debora Patta, who had covered the Gaza War extensively.
