Two Israelis on holiday at a Center Parcs site in the Netherlands have been left hospitalised after a brutal attack – reportedly by a number of local residents – days after pro-Palestine activists urged their followers to “mobilise” against tourists from the Jewish state.
The incident, which happened at Center Parcs De Kempervennen in the Netherlands, was confirmed yesterday by the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
The victims – whose injuries included a broken nose, a head injury that required stitches and a broken eye socket – are now being treated at a hospital in Eindhoven. Dutch police have detained one attacker.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the two Israelis were set upon by multiple attackers who were local residents.
A few days before the attack took place, Netherlands Jewish news outlet Jonet reported that a different group of Israelis on holiday at another Center Parcs site in the country, De Eamhof in Flevoland, had been secretly filmed by pro-Palestine activists.
The activists posted the clip on social media, calling on their many thousands of followers to make them see were are "not welcome".
Referring to the Israelis as "war criminals of the Zionist entity", they wrote: "Over a hundred citizens of the Zionist entity are staying at Center Parcs De Eemhof, Zeewolde this week.
"Who is screening these people traveling to the EU visa-free? Are they complicit in war crimes and genocide by the Zionist Entity?
"If all else fails: mobilise, show them we see them, and make clear they are NOT welcome."
Center Parcs De Eemhof said it was "shocked" to hear of the secret recording and said: "Everyone staying with us is welcome as long as the park rules are followed and everyone shows respect for each other."
A few days later, the horrific attack took place at Center Parcs De Kempervennen.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted: "Once again, Israelis are being attacked in the Netherlands.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring and handling this attack through the Embassy of Israel in The Hague.
"Israel calls on the Government of the Netherlands to come to its senses and act resolutely to prevent attacks on Israelis in its territory, to locate the criminals, and to bring them to justice."
De Kempervennen has been contacted by the JC.
