Iran has launched missiles against targets in Israel this evening.
The first such attack by the Islamic Republic since a ceasefire came into effect on April 8 was said to be in response to the IDF campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
All four missiles launched in the initial salvo are reported to have been intercepted.
Israeli officials later said a second wave of the attack had been launched: “An addition barrage of missiles was launched towards the State of Israel.
"The aerial defence array is currently identifying and intercepting threats.”
The Islamic Republic has warned that this is the beginning of what it threatened will be a “full week of continuous strikes”.
Reacting to the breaking news, President Donald Trump told Fox News: “What I would suggest to Iran: you've shot your missiles, that's enough. Get back to the table and make a deal.”
It was also reported that the president had said he would call Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu asking him not to strike back.
Mohsen Rezaee, military advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, warned against Israeli retaliation, saying: “The attackers have received their response. Any new action will be met with a more crushing response and a very heavy price.”
The four Islamic Republic missiles launched in the initial wave were fired at targets in northern Israeli territory in the attack tonight.
Two people who were injured while rushing to their shelters are being treated by paramedics, according to the Magen David Adom emergency medical service.
There are no further reports of injuries or damage at this stage.
The Israeli public have been urged to follow instructions issued by the Home Front Command.
The Israel Air Force says it has intercepted "all the missiles launched from Iran so far".
It adds that "additional launches" have been identified and Israel's military is "continuously detecting and intercepting threats".
The attack comes after Iran had earlier on Sunday threatened to take retaliatory action following Israeli strikes on Beirut targeting Hezbollah.
Iran confirmed it had fired missiles at Israel.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement "this operation is not a passing event, but rather the beginning of a full week of continuous strikes".
"Waves of missiles and drones will continue to be launched around the clock for the next seven days until the enemy is deterred and ceases its crimes.
"Any targeting of Iranian territory will be met with a devastating and overwhelming response beyond all expectation.”
