Eight people, including six children, have died after two cars crashed near the Dead Sea, authorities have said.

The head-on collision happened on Route 90 between the Ein Gedi park and the Dead Sea

One of the cars involved reportedly caught fire.

Ambulance service MDA tweeted a picture from the scene.

All eight people killed were travelling in the same car, the Hamodia newspaper reported.

Three injured people were airlifted to Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva.
