The Cambodian royal family has celebrated its first Bat Mitzvah with a party in the Raffles Hotel in Phnom Penh as the great-granddaughter of King Monivong reaches 13.

Elior Koroghli celebrated with members of the royal family, the lighting of a large menorah and a crowd of well-wishers.

After the bat mitzvah party, the family formally met the current King Norodom Sihamoni and the queen mother, Norodom Monineath.

The event was also the first time many of the royals had tasted food from a kosher kitchen, catered by Chabad of Cambodia.

The event was chronicled in the Royal Palace Record Book.

Elior Koroghli is the daughter of Princess Susie Koroghli, a descendent of the King of Cambodia – who ruled until his death in 1941.

Susie Koroghli was born in Washington DC and a converted to Judaism when she met her husband Ray.

The family had previously celebrated Elior’s bat mitzvah in Las Vegas when she turned 12 a year ago, but the official celebration took place in Cambodia, closer to her 13th birthday.
