articlemain

BELGIAN Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo has apologised for his country’s role in the Holocaust.

Mr Di Rupo told a memorial this week: “We must have the courage to look at the truth: there was steady participation by the Belgian state authorities in the persecution of Jews.”

The ceremony was held in the memory of 25,000 Jews and Roma who were sent from Mechelen to Auschwitz.
