Steve Bannon, the former chief strategist to President Donald Trump, has appealed to American Jews to join his war against the Republican Party.
In an address to the Zionist Organization of America at its annual awards dinner in New York, Mr Bannon called on the group to “work as partners” against the party's grandees.
Mr Bannon, the executive chairman of the right-wing Breitbart News website, is understood to blame senior Republican figures for blocking some of Mr Trump’s desired reforms.
He also described his movement as an “insurgency against the Republican establishment”, before attacking his adversaries for “playing games”.
He said: “President Trump needs our back. We’re a nation at war. This war is only going to be won if we bind together and work as partners.”
Mr Bannon spent seven months as Mr Trump's chief strategist at the White House before resigning in the summer.
Breitbart News has been accused of voicing antisemitic and white supremacist sentiments.
