The threat in New York followed a number of others across the USA. These included a Jewish community centre in San Diego, which was evacuated after receiving an emailed bomb threat.
The Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center in California received its second threat in three weeks on Tuesday morning.
The San Diego Police Department attended the building after it was alerted to the threat, but did not find any explosives.
A day earlier, 11 Jewish community centres across the country received telephoned bomb threats.
Meanwhile, police in Toronto, Canada, are investigating after antisemitic notes were found on the doors of Jewish residents in the city.
Post-it notes marked with a swastika and the words “No Jews” were found on the front doors of residences.
Some residents also reported that their mezuzahs had been vandalised.
