An American who spied for Israel is currently under medical supervision after he collapsed in prison on Friday night.
Jonathan Pollard, who is serving a life sentence for spying on the US Navy, fell ill at the Federal Correction Institution in North Carolina.
The Committee to Bring Jonathan Pollard Home released a statement that read: "Because of his long years of incarceration under harsh conditions (including seven years in solitary confinement), inadequate nutrition, and inadequate medical care, Jonathan is suffering from numerous medical conditions.
"The compounded effect of these multiple medical issues is wreaking havoc on his overall health and threatening his ability to survive. His body is simply worn out."
Wife Esther Pollard and Israeli President Shimon Peres have issued formal clemency requests to President Barack Obama.
Mr Pollard was convicted in 1986 while he worked as a civilian analyst for the navy.
