Amazon has pulled a range of “Auschwitz-themed Christmas ornaments” displaying images of the Nazi concentration camp.

Among the items posted by sellers to the website were festive decorations, bottle openers and a mousepad.

On Sunday, the Auschwitz Memorial tweeted to call on the online retailer to remove the “disturbing and disrespectful” merchandise.

The Christmas ornaments featured images of rail tracks leading to the camp, as well as barbed wire fences and buildings in which prisoners were housed.

The Auschwitz Memorial later posted an update announcing that Amazon had removed the items, thanking social media users for their “activity and response,” after its initial tweet was retweeted thousands of times.

Other Auschwitz-related merchandise was later found on Amazon – a mousepad bearing the image of a deportation train.

Amazon said the "products in question have been removed.”

"All sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who do not will be subject to action, including potential removal of their account," the company added.
