Far-left streamer and political activist Hasan Piker has suggested that pro-Israel Jewish Americans are “making antisemitism worse” by expressing support for the Jewish State.
“People don’t f*** with Israel any longer,” he said.
“If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone’s going to come around and take action, not against the State of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews.
“I don’t know how people don’t recognise how dangerous this predicament is, how dangerous this is for Jews.
“You’re running around basically tying your entire identity to a country that inevitably will be seen as Jewish Isis, and you’re saying, as Jews, this is all we care about. You’re making antisemitism worse.”
Piker, who has campaigned alongside several Democratic candidates in recent primary elections, has a long history of controversial comments around Israel and US foreign policy, including saying that he would “vote for Hamas over Israel” and that America “deserved 9/11”.
He later clarified the latter comment, saying he meant 9/11 was the “boomerang effect” of American foreign policy decisions and that he did not support attacks on civilians or terrorist activity.
The 35-year-old has also said he does not have “a single issue with Hezbollah” and described the Houthis in Yemen as a “just” form of “resistance”.
And he apologised earlier this year for comments in which he described a group of strictly-Orthodox Jews as “inbred”.
In June, both Piker and his uncle, left-wing commentator Cenk Uygur, were blocked from entering the UK for a planned speaking tour after concerns were raised by Jewish community leaders.
The Home Office reportedly determined that their presence in the UK was not “conducive to the public good”.
