Aly Raisman has said that a call for gymnasts to shun leotards would be a form of "victim shaming". The gold medal winning Olympian was responding to calls that gymnasts should change what they wear in order to prevent abuse.
The 23-year-old, who led the US Olympic team to glory at both the 2012 and 2016 Olympics used Twitter to give her point of view - that leotards are "not the problem."
Raisman - who has become a strong advocate for the empowerment of women - was one of hundreds of gymnasts who testified against former sports doctor Larry Nassar, who was convicted of sexually abusing the gymnasts in his care. He was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison after more than 260 people accused him of abuse.
