Swastikas scrawled on North London pavement removed by Barnet Council after community reports

articlemain

Two swastikas drawn on the street in Mill Hill have been removed by a local authority after reports to the CST.

The symbols were spotted next to a bus stop on Frith Lane in Mill Hill on October 11th, with several concerned community members posting pictures on Twitter.

A complaint was made to Barnet Council, the local authority where they were spotted, by the CST who confirmed to the JC that numerous reports had been filed with them.

Former BBC head of television Danny Cohen posted a picture of the offensive graffiti on Twitter with the caption ‘Antisemitic graffiti in Mill Hill East, London this week.”

A spokesman for Barnet council said that the graffiti had been cleared on Friday (15th Oct) and said they were making inquiries as to whether the perpetrators were caught on CCTV.

MP for Chipping Barnet Theresa Villiers said:“It is appalling that this antisemitic graffiti has appeared. No community should ever be subject to this kind of hatred. It will be vital for the police to take this very seriously and do everything they can to bring those responsible to justice. I would urge anyone with information about what has happened to come forward to the police.”

The Metropolitan Police have been reached for comment.
