Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has written a letter to synagogues voicing his support for the community.
Reiterating his intention to confront antisemitism “in all its forms”, Starmer wrote: “The terrorist attack in Golders Green at the end of April has understandably appalled and horrified Jewish communities up and down the country.
"No one in Britain should feel afraid to practise their faith or to live openly as who they are. Yet too many Jewish families are doing exactly that.”
He went to set out the steps the government is taking to improve security for the Jewish community.
"This includes strengthening visible policing around Jewish neighbourhoods and places of worship, increasing funding for the police and CST by a further £25 million, and working with the justice system to ensure swift and robust consequences for antisemitic attacks,” he wrote.
He also repeated his determination to bring forward legislation that would ban the brutal Iranian militia, the IRGC, responsible for terror attacks around the world and on British soil.
He continued: “I know that increasing security alone is not enough. Antisemitism is an old hatred and when it is minimised or ignored it grows. We will continue to call this out wherever it appears, including on our streets, online or on protests. This country must never accept language that glorifies violence against Jewish people.
“On Tuesday, I convened leaders from across public life for the No 10 Tackling Antisemitism Forum to drive forward a whole of society approach to root out antisemitism wherever it appears. I am clear that antisemitism is not someone else’s responsibility, it is all of ours. It is about the kind of country that we all want to be.
“Please know that you and your congregation are not alone. Thank you for everything that you are doing in your communities, and we remain determined to do everything in our power to protect Jewish life and stamp out antisemitism.”
