An IDF soldier was killed and three others were injured in a Hezbollah drone attack in southern Lebanon.
Staff Sergeant Adam Tzarfati, 20, from Rosh Haayin, central Israel, was killed in the overnight strike which left another soldier severely wounded and two more lightly injured.
Tzarfati served in the Commando Brigade’s Maglan Unit.
He was killed by an explosive-packed drone which hit the town of Yohmor at around 1am Israeli time on Monday morning.
The town is near to Beaufort Castle, seized by Israeli forces over the weekend.
The injured soldiers were airlifted to hospital.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement: "Together with all citizens of Israel, my wife and I send our heartfelt condolences to the family of Maglan unit fighter, Staff Sergeant Adam Tzarfati of blessed memory, who fell in Southern Lebanon.
"Adam, of blessed memory, a brave commando fighter, fell in battle after our forces took control of the Beaufort Ridge.
"He fought with courage and heroism to defend our cities and towns against the Hezbollah terrorist organisation.
"We share in his family's profound grief and pray for the full recovery of our wounded from this difficult incident.
"I salute our heroic fighters who are currently deep in the field to protect the security of Israel, and will continue to do so until the mission is complete.
"May his memory be a blessing.”
The death toll among Israeli troops since the start of the war triggered by the October 7th massacre now stands at 951, according to official IDF data.
IDF Staff Sergeant Michael Tyukin, 21, from the southern city of Ashkelon, who served in the Givati Brigade’s Reconnaissance Battalion, was killed battling Iranian-backed Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon on Saturday night.
He was the 14th IDF soldier to be killed by Hezbollah since a shaky ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon came into effect on April 17.
