More than 70 people were arrested by police on Saturday at demonstrations against the proscription of Palestine Action, according to the BBC.
The Metropolitan Police made 41 arrests on suspicion of showing support for a proscribed organisation and one for common assault. Meanwhile, Manchester Police arrested 16 people and South Wales Police 13 in Cardiff for allegedly supporting a proscribed group.
The Met added that those arrested had been bailed.
It was the second weekend of protests following the proscription of the group by Home Secretary on Friday two weeks ago.
Some protesters in Trafalgar Square held placards proclaiming: “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action”
The move to proscribe it came after the group claimed responsibility for breaking into an RAF base and spray-painting two aircraft.
Announcing the ban, Cooper said, “Such acts do not represent legitimate acts of protest and the level of seriousness of Palestine Action’s activity has met the test for proscription under the Terrorism Act 2000.”
