Jewish volunteers are assisting local emergency services in Hackney, north London, after a blaze engulfed a building next to a synagogue on Cazenove Road in Stoke Newington.

It is not yet known at this stage whether the building is linked to the Jewish community.

The street is at the heart of the local Orthodox Jewish community and is the location of Simon Marks school.
