Harry Styles had a one word answer, “correct” after a heckler at his show shouted out: “Viva viva Palestina [long live Palestine].”
The singer was performing in Amsterdam when the audience member called out and the video was shared on Instagram by an account called Palestine Pixel.
The video was shared on TikTok by Styles superfan who goes by the name Raquel on the video-sharing platform. Under this video, one TikTok user suggested that Styles had not actually heard what the audience member had said, and had just said correct to acknowledge the cry.
Others leapt in to criticise Styles as a “Zionist shill”, saying he had not done enough to support Palestinians.
Styles, who isn’t Jewish, has long been seen as an ally to the community, and has been photographed in kosher delis and wearing a kippah. He is close friends with producer Ben Winston.
In 2022 he was reported as having thrown a Palestinian flag off the stage.
He also reportedly performed with an inflatable hammer bearing the Israeli flag in Barcelona in 2014.
Anti-Israel group Reverse Canary Mission since published an article on Styles, saying he: “Discards Palestinian flags during performances, waves Israeli symbols amid settler violence, and aligns with prominent Zionists to normalise Israel's apartheid regime and ongoing genocide against Palestinians.”
Styles has never publicly commented on the conflict.
