Jewish rock star Este Haim had her dream wedding last week to none other than a former JFS deputy head boy.
The singer and bassist married British tech entrepreneur Jonathan “Jonny” Levin in a fairytale-inspired wedding on New Year’s Eve, surrounded by A-list celebrities including Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks. Este and Levin, who was vice president of the Jewish society at Bristol University, first met when their friends set them up on a blind date in Brooklyn, and were engaged in December 2024 during a hike in LA.
After earning his bachelor degree in economics at Bristol, Levin attended Oxford for a master’s degree before emigrating to New York. He is the cofounder of the cryptocurrency data platform Chainalysis.

While Este’s sisters Alana and Danielle - her bandmates in Haim - sported light blue bridesmaid dresses at the wedding, the bride herself wore a picture-perfect white dress designed by her friend Nicolas Ghesquière, creative director of fashion house Louis Vuitton.
It was something Este had dreamed about since she was five years old.
She told Vogue magazine: "I had this vision of me coming down a spiral staircase. There’s a scene in Cinderella that probably is what I’m kind of mimicking. I would come down in this giant ballroom gown, descending down, and then my fiancé, husband, would be at the bottom [and] grab my hand."
Alana said that she and her siblings had "always wanted to match", and added: "We wanted a dress that would be easy to dance in."
The wedding was held at Hotel El Roblar in Ojai, California.
Este is the oldest of the three sisters. She was born in Los Angeles and raised to follow Judaism, having a bat mitzvah and observing Shabbat. When the three sisters formed their band in 2007, one of their earlier ideas for the name was The Bagel B*itches, but they instead opted for Haim, which means “life” in Hebrew as well as being their surname.
