Manor Solomon became the first Israeli to score a Premier League goal since 2018 when his 88th minute strike clinched Fulham’s 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage.

The winger applied an assured finish to Andreas Pereira’s cross to end a frustrating wait to open his account for the West London club.

Solomon has endured a torrid time with injury since joining Fulham on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“I am really, really happy,” the 23-year-old told the Fulham FC TV channel. “I’ve been waiting for it for a long time. When the ball hits the net it’s the best feeling ever. My last goal was in June for the national team.

“First goal for Fulham, first goal in Premier League. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of.”

Solomon also told the BBC’s Match of the Day that 2022 had been “the most difficult year of my life by far, starting with war in Ukraine and then signing for Fulham but getting injured. I’m happy that this year I’m starting to play and enjoy football again.”

Complimenting Solomon on his goal, Fulham boss Marco Silva said it was “a great finish” and an important moment for the player after a “tough, tough season”.

Silva added: “He has the quality. He needs more time to train, day in, day out, to get better.”

Solomon began his career at Maccabi Petah Tikva, joining Shakhtar in 2019. He made his full international debut at the age of 19 and his first goal for the national side secured a 1-0 victory over Scotland in the Uefa Nations League in November 2020.
