A man has admitted the manslaughter of his mother and sister in August 2017.
Joshua Cohen, who is confined to Broadmoor Hospital, had been deemed mentally unfit to plead to charges of murdering Leah, 64, and Hannah Cohen, 33, at the family’s home in Golders Green, in north-west London.
He instead faced a trial in 2018 which determined he had stabbed the pair, after which he received an indefinite hospital order.
The 29-year-old was brought back to the Old Bailey last week after his mental health was deemed to have improved and pleaded guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility, which prosecutors accepted.
The murder trial had been postponed while doctors carried out a psychiatric assessment.
Judge Richard Marks QC told the court: "I'm entirely confident it will be a long time before he will be released in the community."
The Cohen family are the owners of Beigel Bake, the well-known 24-hour bakery in Brick Lane in London’s East End.
