Violence goes on but no 'wave'

The death of Palestinian minister Ziad Abu Ein following a violent altercation with Israeli border police last Wednesday did not result in a wave of rioting as some had feared.

Sporadic attacks continued, however. On Friday, a member of Islamic Jihad carried out an acid attack against Israelis who had stopped their car to collect a passenger south of Jerusalem. Five family members, including three young girls, were lightly injured.

On Monday, the Shin Bet announced that it had arrested five Palestinians who had been planning terror attacks in Tel Aviv. On Tuesday, during an operation to arrest a terror suspect in Kalandia, a Palestinian man who tried to throw an improvised bomb at the IDF force was shot dead, and a second wounded.
