This is the latest cover of Time Out magazine in Tel Aviv, which has been renamed Time Out Ramallah for one issue only.

The entertainment listings title handed its platform over to Palestinian writers and photographers to shed a light on life in West Bank and Gaza Strip in an issue to mark 50 years since Israel’s occupation began.

A note by the magazine’s Palestinian writers said: “Much has been made of this milestone in the media, but for ordinary Palestinians the number of years and whether or not you call it occupation isn’t really the point.

“The real point is that basically every aspect of our life and future is shaped in some way – from significantly to almost imperceptibly – by Israel’s military decisions.

“This is the reality that we live in.”

The magazine, which was released last week, displayed the West Bank separation cover with the question “What happens behind this wall?”

Published last week in Arabic, English and Hebrew, it contains interviews with ordinary Palestinians and articles on the party scene in Ramallah.

“We met amazing people that want to enjoy music, go out at night and live their lives,” a magazine editorial said.

“These people live only an hour away from Tel Aviv, but checkpoints and barriers separate us.”
