During his historic visit to the UAE earlier this week, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett had the honour of writing the first letter of the first torah scroll ever written in the UAE.
Mr. Bennett joined UAE rabbi Levi Duchman in Dubai to take part in the special moment made possible by 2020's Abraham Accords.
Rabbi Duchman founded the community in Dubai in 2015 with the blessing of the UAE government and has since established numerous places of worship as well as supplies of Kashrut food and even a children's Jewish summer camp.
On the historic trip to the UAE, Bennett met Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan to talk about how the countries can boost ties following the momentous deal to normalise relations last year.
“The leaders discussed deepening ties between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, with an emphasis on economic and regional issues that will contribute to prosperity, welfare and strengthening stability between the countries,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
Israel's Foreign Minister Yair Lapid visited the UAE in June for the inauguration of the Israeli Embassy in Abu Dhabi, hailing a "historic moment."
