Senior members of Hamas’ General Security Apparatus in Gaza have been eliminated by the IDF, officials said in a statement last night.
The military, together with the Israeli Security Agency, launched a strike overnight between Wednesday and Thursday.
The IDF described the General Security Apparatus as a “central and clandestine body responsible for securing senior Hamas officials, maintaining communications between them, and coordinating their meetings”.
It said that those killed in the attack included the group’s deputy head Hassan Rabah Hassan Labad, as well as terrorists Asim Amin Shalash Shubair, Abdullah Ata Younes Abu Kaloub, and Muhammad Naaman Zaki Abu Mark.
The IDF said: “The senior members of the General Security Apparatus were eliminated in order to remove an immediate threat, after recently engaging in efforts to rebuild the Hamas terrorist organisation and assisting its leadership in advancing terrorist activity against the State of Israel and IDF troops.
“Prior to the strike, steps were taken to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions and aerial surveillance.”
Earlier this week the IDF announced that it had “eliminated” Yousef Ayesh Awad Ramadan, a deputy commander of Hamas’ elite Nukhba cell, and one of those responsible for kidnapping Alon Ohel, Eliya Cohen and Or Levy, who were released last year, and Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was murdered in captivity on August 29, 2024. All four had been at the Nova Festival on October 7.
