IDF death toll reaches 54 as third week of Gaza ground operation begins

The IDF has announced the death of two more soldiers in Gaza, bringing the total death toll from the ground invasion to 54.

Capt. Asaf Master and Capt. Kfir Itzhak Franco, both aged 22, became the latest soldiers killed in battle, according to the Israeli military.

They join the names of more than 50 soldiers killed since the ground invasion began two weeks ago.

  • Capt. Beni Wais, 22, a company commander in the 460th Armored Brigade’s 195th Battalion, from Haifa.

  • Master Sgt. (res.) Uriah Mash, 41, a soldier in the 401st Armored Brigade’s 52nd Battalion, from Talmon.

  • Master Sgt. (res.) Yehonatan Yosef Brand, 28, a soldier in the 401st Armored Brigade’s 52nd Battalion, from Jerusalem.

  • Sgt. Maj. (res.) Gil Pishitz, 39, a tank driver in the 401st Armored Brigade’s 9th Battalion, from Harish.

  • Staff Sgt. Itay Saadon, 21, a tank commander in the 401st Armored Brigade’s 52nd Battalion, from Har Halutz.

  • Staff Sgt. Roee Marom, 21, from Ra’anana, a squad commander in the 906 Battalion

  • Master Sgt. Raz Abulafia, 27, from Rishpon, is a fighter in the 6863 Battalion.

  • Capt. Shlomo Ben Nun, 22 years old, from Modiin

  • Lt. (res) Yuval Zilber, 25, from Ramat Gan

  •  Lt. Col. Salman Habaka, 33, from the Druze village of Yanuh-Jat commanded the 53rd battalion of the Armored Corps

  • Sergeant 1st Class Yair Nifosy, 20, from the northern Israeli town of Adi, and was a member of the Paratroopers Brigade's 101st Battalion

  • Sgt. 1st Class (res.) Shalev Zion Sharabi, from the Teneh Omarim settlement in the West Bank.

  • Staff Sgt. Roei Wolf, 20, from Ramat Gan

  • Staff Sgt. Lavi Lifshitz, 20, from Modi'in-Maccabim-Reot

  • Capt. Ariel Reich, 24, from Jerusalem

  • Sgt. Asif Luger, 21, from Yagur

  • Staff Sgt. Adi Danan, 20, from Yavne

  • Staff Sgt. Halel Solomon, 20, from Dimona

  • Staff Sgt. Erez Mishlovsky, 20, from Oranit

  • Staff Sgt. Adi Leon, 20, from Nili

  • Sgt. Ido Ovadia, 19, from Tel Aviv

  • Sgt. Lior Siminovich, 19, from Herzliya

  • Staff Sgt. Roei Dawi, 20, from Jerusalem

  • 1st Lt. Pdaya Mark, 22, from Otniel

  • Staff Sgt. Roei Saragosti, 22, from Nahal HaRoa

  • Staff Sgt. Itai Yehuda, 21, from Rishon Lezion

  • Staff Sgt. Shay Arvas, 20, from Holon

According to the IDF, Israeli forces have killed dozens of Hamas commanders and hundreds of terrorists in Gaza since October 7, when Hamas massacred at least 1200 people during an invasion of the northwestern Negev. Initial reports suggested at least 1400 were killed, by the IDF later revised that figure.

The terrorists took over 200 hostages back to the Strip.
