After an anti-terror operation carried out by Israeli military on Thursday resulted in the death of two Palestinian men, Hamas have threatened to increase violence against Israel.

Two Palestinian gunmen were killed in a firefight with Israeli troops on Thursday. The operation took place in the Palestinian city of Jenin, where dozens more people were arrested according to statement from the Israeli army.

Palestinian health officials reported a total of two deaths and 14 people injured in clashes with Israeli troops.

Hamas have said: “The continuous crimes of the occupation portend a total explosion, which will be still more powerful and more painful and miserable and which our people will join in every part of our occupied land.”

Hamas also said that it welcomed “the blessed month of Ramadan, the month of struggle and martyrdom and victories, embracing the hands of our revolutionary heroes.”

Islamic Jihad leader Ziyad al-Nakhaleh, called for the group to be put on “High alert.”

The large operation in the West Bank carried out by Israeli troops, is expected to continue over the coming days, and was launched by Israeli politicians to reassure citizens after a wave of high-profile terror attacks across Israel.

Operation “Breakwater” targeted individuals who are suspected of planning future attacks, in addition to people thought to have ties to the fatal attack in Bnei Brak on Tuesday.

Palestinian media has identified the two people killed in the raid as, Sanad Abu Atiyeh, 17 and Yazid al Sa’adi, 23. An additional 31 suspects were arrested, one of which was a Palestinian man with affiliations to Islamic state, said the military.

Since the terror attack in Be'er Sheva on the 22nd of March, Israeli security forces have arrested 43 suspects who have been alleged to sympathize with the jihadist group.

Israeli Prime minister Naftali Bennet, said: “there is no limit on resources” that should go towards stopping the “wave of murderous terrorism.”

He also noted that military presence in the West Bank has been heavily bolstered in recent days.

Seeking to reassure the population, in a series of posts on Twitter, the Prime Minister said “Israel has known waves of severe attacks such as the Second Intifada that lasted several years.

“We will overcome them this time too, and we’ll strive to do so as fast as possible.”
