The terrorist group have refused demands by Sir Keir Starmer and others to disarm

A senior Hamas official has said that recognition of a Palestinian state by countries including the UK was a result of their actions on October 7.
Ghazi Hamed, a member of Hamas' political bureau, said in an interview with Al Jazeera: "The initiative by several countries to recognize a Palestinian state is one of the fruits of October 7. We proved that victory over Israel is not impossible, and our weapons are a symbol of Palestinian dignity."
His words were shared by Israel’s foreign minister on social media to attack the recent decision by the UK, France and Canada to recognise a Palestinian state in September.
In his voice, Senior Hamas terrorist Razi Hamed thanks France, UK and Canada for recognising a Palestinian state:

“In his voice, Senior Hamas terrorist Ghazi Hamad thanks France, UK and Canada for recognising a Palestinian state … If this who applauds you - what does it say about you?”, he said in a post on X.
The terrorist organisation has also rejected calls to give up their arms and said in a statement on Saturday that they would only do so after the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Last week, Sir Keir Starmer demanded that Hamas “immediately release all the hostages, sign up to a ceasefire, disarm and accept that they will play no part in the government of Gaza.”
The group’s killing of Israeli civilians on October 7 was condemned in a landmark statement by the Arab League which also urged the group to disarm.
Although the prime minister has said that an “assessment” would be made ahead of any formal move to recognise a Palestinian state, government officials have refused to spell out whether recognition would take place if Hamas still holds Israeli hostages.
After a meeting between senior Foreign Office officials and the families of hostages, their lawyers released a bombshell statement in which they said that Britain’s new push to recognise a Palestinian state “could hurt” their loved ones.
“We do not say this lightly, but it was made obvious to us at the meeting that although the conditions for recognising a Palestinian state would be assessed ‘in the round’ in late-September, in deciding whether to go ahead with recognition, the release or otherwise of the hostages would play no part in those considerations,” Adam Rose and Adam Wagner KC said in a statement on Friday afternoon.
They continued: “The British government's policy will not help the hostages, and could even hurt them.”
In October 2023, just over two weeks after the October 7 atrocities, Hamed said in an interview that the group would repeat the attacks on Israel.

He told Lebanese TV: “We must teach Israel a lesson, and we will do this again and again.
“The Al-Aqsa Flood (Hamas’ operational name for October 7) was the first time, there will be a second, a third, a fourth, because we have the determination, the resolve and the capabilities to fight.”
