US president-elect Donald Trump once gave $10,000 to a West Bank settlement, it was revealed on Sunday.
One of the founders of the Beit El settlement, Yaakov Katz, said in an interview with radio station Galey Israel that Mr Trump had made the donation “in honour” of his lawyer, David Friedman.
Mr Friedman, whom Mr Trump has nominated as the next US ambassador to Israel, is president of the American Friends of Beit El Institutions, which raises about $2 million a year for projects and institutions in the settlement.
According to Haaretz, the parents of Jared Kushner, Mr Trump’s son-in-law, were on were on the founding board of trustees of the American Friends of Beit El Institutions.
