Al-Jazeera's AJ+ Arabic channel has removed a video which called into question the "truth of the Holocaust."

The video shared on Twitter and Facebook on Friday asked “what is the truth of Holocaust and how did the zionist movement benefit from it.”

According to Israeli media translations of the seven minute-long video, which was recorded in Arabic, the video said the Holocaust was "different from how the Jews tell it.”

The channel which shared the content is the youth-focused spin off of Qatar's official Al Jazeera  Network.

The video was shared with the caption: ”The gas chambers killed millions of Jews…So the story says. How true is the #Holocaust and how did the Zionists benefit from it?”

The post was viewed 1.1 million times on Facebook and Twitter before it was taken down by Al Jazeera.

The network said the content violated the network's editorial standards.

In a statement posted to social media it said: “Al Jazeera Media Network deleted a video produced by AJ+ Arabic because it violated the editorial standards of the Network."

Speaking to camera the video's presenter, Muna Hawwa, said: "The Jews weren't the only targets of the Nazis, but also Gypsies [Roma], the disabled, homosexuals, and Arabs and Christians, too.

"In all, the Nazis killed 20 million people during the Holocaust and the Final Solution, and the Jews were just a part of that. Then why does the world focus so much on Jews?”

The video also suggested Jews from pre war Europe were able to get people to “focus” on their suffering because they were wealthy and controlled media companies.

It went on to suggest “statistics” around the Holocaust were “inflated by the Zionist movement to help them establish Israel.”

According to Haaretz the video asked: "How did Israel gain from the Holocaust?"

It claimed Jews "exploited the Holocaust for their agenda and made the whole world focus on their murders and forget the other victims," in order to receive money from Germany.

It also suggested “the reparations that Israel received were disproportionate” to other countries.

It said the Holocaust should be condemned but went on to accuse “Israel – who benefitted the most from the Holocaust" from using the "same pretexts as the Nazis to commit ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians and eliminate them.”

Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Emmanuel Nahshon condemned the AJ+ video as an example "the worst kind of pernicious evil."

He said: "That's how Al Jazeera brainwashes young people in the Arab world and perpetuates hatred of Israel and the Jews. Lies and evil propogated by the ideological descendants of 'Der Stormer.’

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Arabic media spokesperson, Ofir Gendelman, said the channel had "aired an antisemitic video on the Holocaust, spreading lies about it & about Israel, specifically on Ramadan in order to incite the masses.

"It's been removed. We'll keep fighting antisemitism on Arab media, including on [Al Jazeera Arabic] - an inciting propaganda machine.”
