Gal Gadot’s performance in Wonder Woman resulted in heroic amounts of cash at the box office, making her the top-grossing actress of 2017.
The blockbuster, directed by Patty Jenkins, and starring the Israeli actress in the title role, earned $822 million (around £610 million) worldwide in cinema ticket sales, according to Forbes magazine.
Add in Justice League, her superhero character's second outing of the year, and Gadot’s earnings at the box office soar to $1.4 billion (just over £1 billion). The star was paid a mere $300,000 (£220,000) for the film.
In a US TV interview, she said Wonder Woman’s success was beyond all expectation. "But there's so much for this character and people care so much for her," she added. "It's been incredible."
The highest-earning star of the year was Vin Diesel, whose appearances in The Fate of the Furious and xXx: The Return of Xander Cage grossed $1.5 billion (£1.1 billion)
