Manchester's Magen David Adom UK committee has pledged to raise £800,000 within three years for the refurbishment of the MDA station in Hadera.

Manchester MDA chairman Jeremy Hart said the appeal would be formally launched at its 2009 dinner, at which Ruby Wax will be guest speaker.

"This project marks a significant departure for Manchester MDA, allowing us to focus our fundraising for a specific initiative, while still encouraging individuals to donate ambulances and other equipment should they wish to do so. We feel this project offers us an opportunity to help on a larger scale than we have done before."
