The celebrated ballet star and choreographer Mikhail Baryshnikov will perform in Israel this summer.
The 62-year-old Latvian, who will perform at three events with ballerina Ana Laguna, has promised to give away 50 free tickets to rising ballet stars in Israel, according to recommendations from their teachers.
Mr Baryshnikov will perform his show “Three Solos and a Duet”, which includes choreography from Mats Ek, Benjamin Millepied and Alexei Ratmansky.
The shows, set to take place in June, will be held in Tel Aviv and Herzliya.
From 1974 to 1978, Mr Baryshnikov was principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre. He was briefly principal of the New York City Ballet and has been a regular guest artist with the Royal Ballet.
But for younger fans he is best known for his television role in Sex and the City, where he played lead character Carrie Bradshaw’s Russian artist boyfriend — whom she abandons shortly after they move to Paris together in the series’ final episode.
