JC GOAL OF THE WEEK CONTENDERS

- SIMON COHEN (Temple Fortune) - fantastic strike from outside the box against Mill Hill Dons

- HARVEY KAYE (Oakwood A) - 25-yard lob - proved to be the winner against Jewdinese

-------------------

JC SAVE OF THE WEEK CONTENDERS

- ADAM ZAIDMAN (Hertswood Vale) - an absolutely crucial turning point in the game came mid-way through the second half when the RJC left-back found himself in a one-on-one with Zaidman, who continues to prove he’s the best keeper in our division by some distance with a quality save before smothering the rebound. That proved key, and allowed Vale to push on

- ALEX LEE (Oakwood A) - brilliant goal-saving block against 'Nese

- BEN HALMER (Jewdinese) - reacted superbly to tip over a fierce strike from just inside the box

JC QUOTE OF THE WEEK CONTENDERS

- BRANDON HAMME (Temple Fortune) - "Fortune were good value for their win, they played some really good stuff and for me it was the most impressive performance from an opposition in the league this season"

- AVI MARKIEWICZ (Faithfold Doc MM A) - "It's been an extremely tough second half of the season for us, but the core of the squad have kept going and not given up. I am really proud of those who put in all for the team"

- JACOB EMANUEL (Hertswood Vale) - "Individually we struggled to show our quality, but as a team, it was an absolutely resolute defensive display with Neidle and co. thwarting Redbridge at every occasion, and limiting them to one solid chance on goal. Not even Nate Kashet could get a sniff on goal"

- DAN KRISTALL (Oakwood A) - "To beat a team who have only lost one game all season prior to meeting us, twice in 3 weeks isn't too bad is it?"

YOUR WEEKEND REVIEW STARTS HERE:

CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP QUARTER-FINALS

OAKWOOD A 1 JEWDINESE 0

A solitary effort from Harvey Kaye was enough to help Oakwood squeeze into the semis after edging past resilient Division One promotion hopefuls Jewdinese - beating them in the cup by a one-goal margin for the second time this season.

Relieved Oaks joint-manager Dan Kristall told JC Sport: "It was another well-fought contest which saw us play for 10 minutes with no keeper after Joe Botchin was sin-binned. We battled hard and just about deserved to win."

'Nese boss Darren Lawrence told JC Sport: “Yet again, I’m very proud of the performance from the boys. We suffered a couple of injuries to key players early on in the game which didn’t help us, but we left everything out on the pitch today but just came up short. I’m confident of a strong finish to the league now and making a real push for promotion. I’d like to wish Jake Erlich a speedy recovery in what looks to be a nasty knee injury.”

HENDON UNITED SPORTS 3 BRADY MACCABI 1

Hendon United boosted their double hopes with a 3-1 win over Brady at Rowley Lane.

Brady started a game brightly and took a deserved lead through Ben Kohler. Hendon then equalised via a hotly-disputed free-kick via Mordy Weiler after the Brady keeper was adjudged to have picked up a back pass from a sliced clearance. Hendon forged ahead on 55 minutes through super-sub Rocky Spitzer and as Brady went in search of an equaliser, they left themselves exposed at the back and were punished 20 minutes from the end with Gav Noe converting. Brady fought until the end but were denied on several occasions by Hendon keeper Russell Corin.

Hendon boss Jordan Sapler told JC Sport: "This was not a classic by any means but we made it through to the next round. Brady were strong and well organised all across the pitch but in the end we did enough to make the semi-final."

Brady boss Joel Nathan told JC Sport: "We know have only league games left and everyone knows it's a cup final if we are to stay up."

BAYERN MINCHA 1 MACCABI LONDON LIONS 3

Holders Maccabi London Lions were made to work hard before seeing off first division Bayern Mincha as their bid to retain the League Cup gathered momentum. Sam Hamerton, Max Kyte and Alex Taylor took the Lions into the last four.

MLL joint-manager Max Kyte told JC Sport: "The boys put in a solid team performance and did what was needed to get through to the next round. Bayern Mincha gave a good account of themselves and never stopped working for the full 90 and got a deserved goal in the final ten minutes. We are focused on bringing home as much silverware as possible and hopefully we can get another win this weekend against Los Camden and put us into two semi-finals.”

HMH 3 FAITHFOLD DOC MM A 1

ADAM ABADI was the hat-trick hero as HMH climbed to third in the division.

Jubilant HMH boss Avi Goldberg told JC Sport: "Today had the hallmarks of a tricky fixture as Faithfold ha e pedigree and beaten us before. We went out with a purpose and after the first five minutes never looked back. We may have missed many chances but with Abadi and Wagner in the team goals seem to always come. Today was Adam Abadi's turn to bang them home. Hats off today to Sam Monjack for an inspirational performance in midfield - is he reaching his peak in time for the huge match next Sunday against Oakwood in the Jewish FA cup? We hope so!”

Faithfold player-manager Avi Markiewicz told JC Sport: "It's been an extremely tough second half of the season for us, but the core of the squad have kept going and not given up. I am really proud of those who put in all for the team."

Rock bottom Faithfold C claimed a shock win over fourth-placed FC Team at Hertswood.

Eitan Ben-Zion, Josh Morris, Richard Salmon and David Cohen accounted for the FC Team goals.

FC Team boss Mitch Young told JC Sport: "We believe Faithfold fielded a number of ineligible players, which was very disappointing to see. Assuming they are charged, we would rather replay the game but understand the league can’t set precedence."

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B 0 HERTSWOOD VALE 2

Josh Wood and an own goal helped Hertswood Vale took another step towards the title as they won a promotion six-pointer against Redbridge B at Fairlop - their 11th win of the season.

Vale joint-manager Jacob Emanuel told JC Sport: "In a game which lacked any quality, we managed to force through a win when a draw looked most likely. Individually we struggled to show our quality, but as a team, it was an absolutely resolute defensive display with Neidle and co. thwarting Redbridge at every occasion, and limiting them to one solid chance on goal. Not even Nate Kashet could get a sniff on goal. We’ve got one game left in the league and we’re going to need to pull another quality performance out the bag to get us up to 40 points."

RJC boss Richard Bronzite did not mince his words after the final whistle, and told JC Sport: "It was a shocking game of football by two teams who can a lot better then they did today. I can honestly say it was a very boring game to watch - hardly any chances from both sides and a draw would have been the fair result. Vale's goals came from an own goal, and a clearance by our keeper that hit one of their boys and went in. That says it all. It was a game to forget. We need to bounce back next week if we want to compete for the league."

TEMPLE FORTUNE 4 MILL HILL DONS 2

Temple Fortune ended Mill Hill Dons' good run at Silver Jubilee Park, with Gab Stone, Simon Cohen and David Rajber (2) grabbing the goals for Simon Linden's men.

Nick Phillips and Adam Isaacs registered for the Dons.

Fortune boss Simon Linden told JC Sport: "It was a very impressive performance from us - we seem to step it up for the bigger games this season. Mill Hill Dons are a very good side but today we was well worthy of the win, playing with discipline, hard work and counter-attacking football. The score-line could have been a lot bigger if we had taken a number of chances."

Dons boss Brandon Hamme told JC Sport: "It was a disappointing result but the boys can hold their heads high. We had some late drop-outs so we had to adapt accordingly and the boys all put in a great shift. I couldn’t have asked for much more."
