PETER MORRISON TROPHY NATIONAL ROUND
REPUBLIC OF FLIXTON 2 CHIGWELL ATHLETIC 0

Dark horses Republic of Flixton proved too strong for Chigwell Athletic, scoring a goal in each half to send the east Londoners home empty-handed.

Saul Shapiro put the hosts ahead after five minutes and top-scorer Rob Jacobs sealed the tie with an 18-yard lob 15 minutes from time following a flowing 18-pass move.

Republic joint-manager Stuart Delmonte told JC Sport: "We didn't play to our full capability. We lost too many second balls in the first half and were a bit too uptight, but were much improved in the second half. There's more to come from this team."
