It took the hosts barely two minutes to lead. Rob Glass fed fellow defender Guy Morris who in turn freed the marauding Saul Conway. The Lions front man held off his marker before rifling a fine low finish into the bottom corner.
The lead was almost doubled following a flowing move that resulted in Conway’s first-time shot from Rayner's superb ball in brilliantly parried by the Lats keeper. But he could do little shortly after when another great move again saw Rayner cross deep, Conway this time laying the ball unselfishly back to Lee Cash who couldn’t miss.
There were plenty of other chances as Lions moved the ball well, the energy of Alex Levack and Matt Kleinman keeping the hosts on the front foot throughout. A third goal did come shortly before the interval, Brad Lazarus this time on hand to apply the finishing touch.
Latymer didn’t give up – Morris and Glass had to be alert and physical to keep their strong front men at bay, although it took a last-ditch toe poke from substitute Dan Geey to clear one moment of potential danger.
Lions, however, continued to boss proceedings and really should have added to their tally long before Cash broke down the right, his low cross turned into his own net by the sprawling defender.
And a fifth came via the head of Lenchner from a corner, the ball adjudged to have crossed the line although Conway was on hand to make sure just in case.
Old Salvatorians are the expected opponents in what will be a two-legged semi-final.
