Paltchik wins judo grand slam event

Peter Paltchik of Israel won the under-100kg by beating Olympic silver medallist Varlam Liparteliani of Georgia at the International Judo Federation (IJF) Paris Grand Slam.

Paltchik, the world number six, triumphed over four-time winner Liparteliani, who was penalised for diving after being unsuccessful with an uchi-mata attack to hand the title to the Israeli.

The Israel reached the final after beating world number one Michael Korrel. The Dutchman was penalised for a gripping infringement during golden score which was his third indiscretion.
