Josh Newman was toasting double delight after another outstanding performance at the British Trampoline, Tumbling and DMT Championships in Liverpool.
Newman, 16, maintained his grip on both the individual and synchro titles with victories in the Elite Level Men 15-16 competitions at the Echo Arena.
"I’m over the moon about how the competition went,” said Newman. “It exceeded my expectations as my build-up had not been brilliant. I had only decided to enter two days before it started.
"I put in three solid routines despite being in a lot of pain. I tried to put that to the back of my mind and focus on my performance.”
After claiming the individual title for the fourth time in the last five years, Newman went on to partner Rhys Northover in the Synchro.
They maintained their 100 per cent record with a score of 121.90, winning the event for the third consecutive year.
"We're very proud of the record,” said Newman. “We’ve not trained together for a year but gave it our best shot and are delighted that everything went to plan."
Newman, who lives in Billericay, will bypass his final year of juniors to compete in senior men’s competition next year although he will not be in contention for Rio 2016 which accepts athletes 18 and over.
