There are two stand-out matches scheduled on Matchday 19 of the MGBSFL - both of which feature Oakwood - the A-team will be looking to end North London Raiders A's 100 per cent record in league and Jewish cup competitions this season in the Premier Division, while Jason Stein's B's will be involved in a titanic tussle against title rivals Brady Maccabi in Division One. Danny Caro looks ahead to all the action.

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A vs OAKWOOD A
Sunday is the first of two massive encounters between Raiders and Oakwood.
The leaders boosted their treble hopes with an impressive 3-1 victory over Manchester Maccabi in the Morrison last weekend, with Ricky Engleman stealing the show.
His partnership with Ben Joseph in the middle of the park is as good as it gets at this level and they will be ready for anything Oakwood can throw at them – a team they have great respect for.
NLR boss Rob Richman told JC Sport: “Since the new year break we have managed to secure two really good cup victories and we can look forward to a quarter-final and a semi-final at some point in February/March.
“For now the attention returns back to league action and a massive game against Oakwood this Sunday.
“I’m not surprised at all to see Oakwood doing so well this season - they’ve added some quality to a talented squad and are excellently managed by Blanky, Kristall and Schocky.
“Their defensive record is second to none and we’ll have to be at our best to break them down. Ever since we were in Division One together we’ve had closely fought games and I know that this year the matches between our two sides will be no different.
“We knew heading into the second-half-of-the-season that every game would be a big test and it doesn’t get much bigger than Oakwood. We will be well prepared for Sunday and look forward to what I hope will be a really exciting game.”
The big games will come thick and fast for Oakwood over the next few weeks. They love testing themselves against the best and now have a squad to rival any in the league. And on their day they can beat anyone, even Raiders.
Oaks joint-manager Dan Kristall told JC Sport: “We’re all excited for Sunday after the disappointment of our postponed fixture last weekend.
“We go into Sunday’s game against the league leaders full of hope. Both sides have the joint best defence in the league and we know that we will have to be patient and be at our very best to take the points.
“Raiders are big favourites but that will suit us and if we hit the heights of our cup win against Camden and start being more clinical, we have every chance of surprising our hosts.
“On a personal note, it will be great to come up against Jordan Marks who I know very well from last season with Leeds. It will be an interesting battle.”
But until Oakwood beat the likes of Hendon, Redbridge and Raiders on a regular basis, there will be one or two people that will question their credentials. If that isn’t incentive enough to produce a special performance or result against the very best then I don’t know what is.
JC team news: Oscar Wagner returns to the squad after being cup-tied last week. Liron Mannie is also available, but Jonny Kay is away. Adam Joselyn, Alex Kaye and David Rhodes remain long-term absentees. Sunday will be Alex Bloch’s 100th appearance for the club.
Oakwood’s Sam Cantor faces a race against the clock and will face a late fitness test. They welcome back Guy Helman and Eddie Manson into the squad. Kristall, Blank and Schock have entered the transfer market this week but will be keeping tight-lipped until the deal is confirmed. They also have Alex Lee in the squad who played against Raiders last week in the Morrison tie (for his hometown club), Manchester Maccabi. “He is our spy in the camp!”

MACCABI LONDON LIONS A vs FC TEAM A
The Lions could move into the lofty heights of second place if they pick up maximum points against FC Team on Sunday, but David Pollock is taking nothing for granted.
Goals have been scare for a Lions team managed by Pollock and the shy and retiring Adam Klein, with just 14 going in in 11 matches. But they have an excellent defensive record and with home advantage, Lions fans will arrive in confident mood.
Ahead of kick-off, Pollock told JC Sport: “We are fairly good for numbers but will need to be switched on from the start.
“Having played FC Team earlier in the season I think that there league position doesn't reflect their ability.”
Team are confident they will pick up a sufficient number of points to avoid relegation. With Faithfold withdrawing, that just leaves one place which at the moment is filled by Blizzard Storm.
Team are packed with quality all over the pitch and they often up the ante against the most consistent teams in the league. And there’s also the Yoav Lebens coming up against his former club scenario so expect a huge shift from the midfield general.
Revenge will be on the minds of FC Team who were beaten 4-2 by Lions at the start of the season, when Harry Hatchwell, Conor Perlmutter and David Soutar were among the scorers.
But I suspect things will be closer second time around.
JC team news: Lions welcome back Jake Rinsler from university.

HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A vs BLIZZARD STORM
Hendon will use Sunday’s game against Blizzard to give some of their key players some match fitness ahead of important cup ties in the Morrison and Anekstein.
The Reds have been beaten by the weather over the past fortnight and they will be raring to go against a Blizzard team fighting for survival.
Boss David Garbacz told JC Sport: “We are confident of finally getting a game in after many weeks without any football.
“Last week we even had the 3G pitch called off last minute when we were all two minutes from the ground so that was even more frustrating than usual.
“This week it is back to league action and whilst we are well out of it as far as challenging for the league is concerned it is really important that we get a confidence boosting win under our belts to set us up for the cups.
“We don’t know a great deal about Blizzard but I’m sure they will be highly incentivised and well up for the game so we expect a tough game as ever.
“Hopefully we can achieve two objectives – firstly to get the game played and secondly to put in a nice winning performance.”
Blizzard boss Simon Linden had high hopes at the start of the season but a return of just one win in nine matches means he needs to bring in some quality reinforcements and he is threatening to splash the cash again.
The league table doesn’t lie and it will tell him he needs more goals and better defenders so no doubt several players are playing for their places.
Manager Simon Linden told JC Sport: “It’s been a long time without a fixture – six weeks - and a lot of my boys are looking forward to this one.
“I fancy us to have a good second-half-of-the-season, we are not in this league to make up the numbers.
“Hendon will be a tough game but if we stick to the game plan we will give them a run for their money.
“I can confirm that talks with Dovi Fehler joining Blizzard are at a early stage, he has always wanted to come here but it won't be this season!”
Man for man Hendon hold all the aces and that will be reflected at full-time on Sunday.
JC team news: There is no Yoav Kestenbaum or Ben Kon for Hendon but striker Dovi Fehler returns.
Blizzard are “delighted” to confirm Adam Levene is fit and ready to return after two months out with a groin injury. Also returning is keeper Robbie Krupski.

LOS BLANCOS vs FAITHFOLD B
This week’s has been all about comebacks. Liverpool this week welcomed back John Flanagan after a 20-month lay-off and there'll be a familiar face in goal for Blancos on Sunday for the visit of Faithfold.
Boss Jon Ison told JC Sport: “With our regular no. 1 Nick Grosse away on international duty, we have flown in veteran and our previous #1 Josh Cohen from Israel, so we are looking forward to seeing him don the Blancos jersey once more.”
"Confidence is high after a good performance last week, but we know we cannot be complacent.
"We have struggled in terms of consistency this year, and we need to turn that corner. We do have players missing this week, but we have a strong selection available, so there will be no excuses.
"We're hoping to see Jono Gaon back amongst the goals this week, along with the returning Adam Hersh.
"We do not know what Faithfold will offer, as presumably some of their A lot will now play for the B's, so we need to make sure we are awake from the word go... and hope to bring the three points home."
Faithfold lie rooted to the foot of the table and with Blancos having their tails up after last week’s thrilling comeback against table-topping Woodford, I can only see one winner.

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS B vs BRIXTON OLD BOYS
Raiders hit rock bottom against FC Team last week, with manager Jonathan Adelman describing his team as “shambolic”.
Things looked encouraging when Jake Gilbert put them in front but they were unable to cope with the power of Richard Salmon and the goals of Andy Sheena.
For a team who were considered title contenders at the start of the season to concede double figures tells you that something is not right but they must dust themselves down and wipe the slate clean against a Brixton team fighting for their lives.
Much like Raiders, Rob Silverman’s troops guarantee goals. They have conceded twice as many as they’ve scored which is great news for Raiders, but they certainly won’t have an inferiority complex against a team packed with great talent.
Brixton produced a gutsy performance in their last outing on 3G against Oakwood and if they can close down the space a draw isn’t beyond them.

OAKWOOD B vs BRADY MACCABI
Match of the day in Division One sees title rivals Oakwood and Brady go head to head in St. Albans.
Both sets of players have enjoyed extended winter breaks and it's no surprise to see copies of Davina's new exercise DVD in the reception of both clubs this week when I popped down for my weekly pre-match press conferences.
Oakwood first, Good morning Mr Stein. You know the rest ... "Come inside DC. Snow, I hate it. And you know what, I hate people who don't hate snow. I was gutted not to get the match against Sosobad played the other day. Usually a 3G pitch is a guarantee of football but there was just too much snow to clear.
"We'd spent so long working on solidification when out of possession and perfecting the art of the low block in a 2-1-2-2-2-1 formation. Very narrow. What a shame.
"Anyway, we've now turned our attention to a big, big match with Brady. It has the feel of one of those Arsenal /United games around 1998. The winner will fancy themselves for the title.
“Of course Woodford and Team B will have a lot to say about that, but it's a bunched league table right now and the title is there for someone to grab. We want to be that side.
"We were somewhat fortunate to come away with a 1-1 draw in October but we’ll be wise to the things that Brady are good at.
“Joey Lazare will get a very tasty reception from the supporters as well, I can guarantee you that. Players coming down here who don't sign for Oaks are a curious bunch and the Oaks Ultras will let Joey know exactly how they feel!”
Brady remain one of three teams unbeaten in the league this season. They’ve played a game more than Oakwood but are four points better off and will be determined to maintain that advantage.
Dan King put them in front in the first meeting this season though that was cancelled out by Ben Horn. Stein admitted post-match his team “were a tad fortunate to take a point given the number of second-half chances Brady created”.
Lazare promised to kiss the famous Brady badge in the return match and though it would be interesting to see if he chose to celebrate upon scoring.
Five-star entertainment is guaranteed on Sunday in a game that could go a long way to deciding which team is crowned champions come May.
JC team news: Bobby Abrams and Jacob Richler Kleiman will be aiming to show that they're the best strikeforce in the league while Dan Seligman returns to sprinkle some startdust on proceedings.

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B vs WOODFORD WANDERERS
Jerome Marks has described Sunday’s derby against Redbridge as a must-win as leaders Woodford look to maintain their slender advantage at the top.
Having played more games than promotion rivals Brady, Oakwood and FC Team, they can ill-afford to drop any more points, or throw away two-goal leads!
Daryl Kay and Marks hope the players have learned the lessons from the past few weeks against a Redbridge team they drew 3-3 against earlier in the season.Alex Aviram bagged a brace that day, with Josh Orgel (2) and Richie Caplin finding the net for RJC.
It was Woodford who made the comeback that day but no doubt, they’ll be looking to make another fast start on Sunday.
Marks told JC Sport: “If we have any aspirations of winning the title, nothing less than three points on Sunday will do.
“It’s another local derby, which sets us up nicely for our vital run-in, in which we still have to face Brady, Oakwood and SPEC FC.
“Importantly, we haven’t lost since the first game of the season, but after three draws in a row we will be looking to take advantage of Redbridge’s position in the league.
Redbridge would love nothing better than to shoot down Woodford’s title dreams. They will be determined to bounce back from the recent loss at Brixton, and boss Sam Rank expects a similar level of performance to the ones produced against Blancos and Oakwood in November.
Rank told JC Sport: “I cannot describe how much the RJC B Boys are looking forward to Sunday big derby game against table-toppers Woodofrd.
“Over the last month, with no games being played, due to weather conditions, the boys have working extremely hard on fitness and developing as players and as a team.
“Woodford have been together for a number of years, and with players like Mitch Hahn, Harrison Midda and Tom Alexander they would cause most teams a lot of problems.
“However, the RJC B boys, will be very well prepared and organised for Sunday - if they take their training performances into Sunday, I can see a very big upset on the cards.”
Derbies are never easy to call. Much depends on how Woodford defend and if they score first, it’s important they get the next goal too. And I have a feeling Mitch Hahn could be the difference between the teams.
JC team news: Adam Noble and Carl Dobrin are on a scouting trip to Amsterdam. Ben Chernoff returns from injury. The rest of the squad is at full strength.
Woodford welcome back skipper Adam Poole following a short-term sabbatical in Istanbul. Ever-present full back Martin Sales faces a late fitness test, as does the energetic Elliott Gold. Fit again Andy Levy should return to the squad, as should Tom Alexander after missing the last two games.

L’EQUIPE vs NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C
Raiders will look to build on last week’s terrific victory over Faithfold by boosting their promotion hopes against a L’Equipe side they know well.
Alex Elf was their star performer last week in a memorable win that took them into the last eight of the Jewish FA Cup for the first time.
But it’s back to the bread and butter of the league on Sunday as they go in search of the win that would help them leapfrog Sunday’s opponents.
NLR’s David Domb told JC Sport: “Reaching the quarter-finals of the Morrison is a superb achievement for a team from the bottom tier. But we'll look forward to the last eight when we need to.
"The league games are massive now if we're to achieve our objectives for the season. It's not a bad position to be in considering the games in hand, but we have to pick up points in all of them.
"This is our third meeting with L'Equipe this season. The others have been superb to be a part of and no doubt this will be no different. It always seems like games with L'Equipe are always so important for us.
"We've played some excellent football over the last couple of weeks, really picking up from where we were in the run up to the break. If we play near the level of last Sunday, we'll walk away with another three points."
Although L’Equipe have played more games than NLR, they are aiming to finish as high up the table as possible.
The team are on an upward curve this season under Nick Stern who firmly believes that Sunday’s game is winnable.
He told JC Sport: “We are ready and raring to go – we have 11 games left and every game we need to fight for every point.
"We want to do our talking on the pitch and nothing is bigger than Raiders at home, the fortress.
"I don’t remember the last time we have beaten them and with some very good players in their squad Sunday will be another tough challenge."
The conditions could be something of a leveller if this game beats the cold snap. If Raiders can defend well at set-pieces, and not like Liverpool, I fancy them to have the edge.
JC team news: L’Equipe welcome back captain Mark Singer but they still have a number of absences.

ATHLETIC BILBAUM vs FAITHFOLD C
There’s little at stake in Sunday’s meeting between Bilbaum and Faithfold, so I hope that both teams go for it and give their fans a winter warmer.
Faithfold boss Rob Shooman “hopes to have most of our players back from various injuries” as they go in search of their fifth win of the season.
Bilbaum are on a bad run and with Dan Gordon sniffing around for goals, I’m going for an away win.

CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI vs FC TEAM C
Jeff Gotch hopes match sharpness isn’t a problem as Catford prepare to host FC Team in what would be their first game in over a month.
Goals look guaranteed as the sides lock horns for the first time this season and Catford will be looking to fly out of the traps as they attempt to build on the excellent win over high-flying Hendon.
Gotch told JC Sport: “So Sunday - firstly were hoping the game is on as it’s been five weeks now and we are chomping at the bit to get going again.
“We are at full-strength bar two players and fully confident - we know if we win our games in hand we are going be right up there among the top few in the league and Sunday we should realistically be looking to get maximum points.
“I know FC Team can cause us problems but with our defensive record we are confident.”
Team are aiming to make it four games without defeat. They are playing with great spark and energy and I can see them causing Catford problems at the back.
Team’s David Gordon told JC Sport: “Our form before the winter break was good but we haven’t played for five weeks and I imagine that there will be a bit of rustiness.
“Catford have improved a lot, and I think this will be a real test for us, so we will have to work very hard to get a result on Sunday.
“We are in the midst of a mini unbeaten run and the aim is to keep that going for as long as possible.”
Much depends on how Team handle Catford’s threat at set-pieces so I’m going for a score draw.
JC team news: The Cats without Ashley stokes who is taking part in the world table tennis champs at Ally Paly. Gotch added: “We wish him the best and anyone interest he will be on Sky Sports on Friday.” Skipper Richard Adams is also missing. He is four weeks into an extended visit to India on a yoga retreat.
Team top-scorer Nicky Sugarman is now training for the marathon. Freddie Marks, Eddie Sternberg, Jamie Cooper and Jonny Samuel all miss out. Ilan Ben-Zion and Josh Cooper return.

HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB B vs MACCABI LONDON LIONS B
Lions are odds-on finish above Hendon but the Reds will do what they can to stop the inevitable happening on Sunday.
Hendon’s good early season work has come undone in recent weeks and defeats against Catford, Scrabble and Real has hurt their confidence and pride.
But I expect Adam Glekin to set up his team in a way that is hard for Lions to get behind them and the visitors will have to work hard to break them down.
Sam Marchant’s Lions know that with Scrabble having set the bar sky high, they cannot afford any slip-ups. They have scored 18 goals in their last three league games and look tight at the back.
Josh Bloom is scoring for fun and much depends how Hendon defend when they are under the cosh.

SCRABBLE FC vs REAL HENDON
Scrabble fans will be delighted to hear that manager Ray Abrahams has lured another big name to the club in the shape of Tony Gold.
The former London Lions star has won virtually every honour in Jewish football and his big-match experience is sure to steer them over the line in first place.
Gold, who is now joint-manager at London Colney, is not expected to play every week, but his arrival means they now feature four former MGBSFL Premier Division winners, with Josh Bentley, Elliott Espinoza and Ben Law also turning out in the famous Scrabble colours.
It was a case of lucky 13 for Scrabble last week as they beat Boca Jewniors 3-0 last week. It may not have been their most fluid performance but strikes from Elliot Espinoza, Jonathan Peters and Danny Sherman ensured they did the business.
Whilst not looking at records, we are told on the grapevine that if Scrabble win on Sunday they will equal the record of 14 wins - set by a team who won 14 games win a league).
Ray Abrahams told JC Sport: "Real Hendon gave us a tough game in St. Albans on a muddy pitch earlier this season and we had to dig in to take the points but we don't fear anyone at the moment and the guys are buzzing with confidence. The games can't come quickly enough at the moment for us."
Hendon are also littered with some top quality in the shape of Gilad Kestenbaum and the ever-reliable Martin Smulovitch and they will be determined to put on a good show against the champions elect.
But when you see what the Lions did to Real, perhaps their fans are fearing the worst.
JC team news: Josh Flax, Scrabble's in-form midfielder, will be missing from this game with an injury but otherwise Scrabble have a strong side available as they seek to break the 40-point mark.
