AFC FLIXTON vs HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A
Hendon are desperate for any kind of football match at the minute, but they couldn’t have asked for a tougher one than Flixton away.
David Garbacz is under no illusions as to just how tough things will be on Sunday against a team flying high at the top of the Manchester Accountants League Division One.
He told JC Sport: “It is ironic that we need to travel to Manchester for our first game in weeks - apparently it is reasonably dry up north and the Flixton ground is in perfect condition.
“We are expecting a really tough match - they are one of the top Jewish teams in the country and play to a good standard in a non Jewish league. Apart from that we don't know a great deal about them, but this is what the Peter Morrison is all about - it would just be nice to draw one of these provincial teams at home once in a while!
“Last year when we travelled up north it was over Pesach and most of our team were away - this year we have a good strong squad to choose from so there will be no excuses.
“We know that we are a match for anyone with a decent team available, but nevertheless we will need to be at our absolute best to still be in the hat come Monday morning.
“We are looking forward and it should be a cracking old-school game - there will be nothing artificial about this tie - proper football played on a proper grass pitch!”
Flixton warmed up for the game with a brilliant 5-1 victory over Chorlton. Top-scorer Rob Jacobs bagged a brace, but it was Rafi Leeker would grabbed the headlines after a sublime hat-trick. Promotion is within sight for the team co-managed by Stuart Delmonte and Tony Rosenberg who have been doing their homework on Hendon this week.
Ahead of the game, Delmonte told JC Sport: “Sunday gives us a bit of a breather from league action, but it’s a cup game we really want to win.
“Hendon are a good side and will start as favourites. But we are playing really well at the moment and will fancy giving them a real game.”
There’s a possibility Michael Sacks will play for the home side. His knowledge of Hendon will be crucial in what caught be a classic cat and mouse battle.
The Flixton managers have won the Morrison before, during their time at Manchester Maccabi, and they are hungry for more. Hendon, you have been warned …

NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS A vs HEATON PARK ROVERS
NLR are expected to continue their merciless march towards the treble when they host MJSL outfit HPR to Uxbridge for a lunchtime kick-off.
Last weekend, Jamie Wolfson, Oli Henry and magic man Matt Stock fired them ever closer to their first MGBSFL crown and the signs look good for Sunday.
NLR boss Phil Peters told JC Sport: "Obviously we've gone for an artificial surface this week in the face of almost constant vilification from one of our divisional rivals - after all, we weren't going to let HPR spend three hours on a coach to arrive to a pitch more suited to water polo.
"Whilst UKIP have been shamed recently for blaming the recent weather on gay marriage, I'm surprised Hendon's management hasn't been similarly ridiculed for suggesting that our club may have something to do with all their games being cancelled recently. It's really outrageous to be receiving such smarmy comments for doing all we can to ensure that 22 boys get a game of football on a Sunday morning.
"Anyway, this week is all about the magic of the cup and whilst we don't know much about Heaton Park, we do know that we'll be in for a tough game and will have to be at our best if we want to progress to the quarter-finals. We've had slow starts in all of our cup games this season and found it difficult to raise our game against our underdog opponents, but this should prove our toughest cup test yet.
HPR sit fourth in the MJSL Joan Collins Premier Division and are 12-1 to topple L'Orange. Recent defeats against Oakhill and Haroldeans have hit them hard, although they have nothing to lose ahead of their long trip down south.
For me, NLR will have too much pace and quality all over the park and I can see them winning at a canter.
JC team news: Peters has an almost full squad to choose from, although Jonny Kay sits out due to injury, with David Rhodes and Rob Blackman facing late fitness tests. Ethan Zone will return to the squad after missing last week's game.

FC TEAM B vs BLIZZARD STORM
Sunday’s cup game is something of a distraction for FC Team B who have finally found some rhythm in the league.
They were just seconds away from a famous cup win over table-toppers NLR B last weekend in a contest where Daniel Woolfe scored the goal of the game – indeed the JC Goal of the Week, noch!
But player-manager David Gordon will ensure his team are not feeling sorry for themselves. He told them after the game they can be “proud” of the manner in which they played, etc …
A win over Division Two rivals Blizzard could set up a bumper pay-day in the next round and boost club coffers.
Gordon told JC Sport: “The cup game comes at a bad time for us as are on good form in the league and we would have liked to carry that run on.
“We will still be going out to win this game though as we obviously want to keep up the momentum, especially with some huge league games coming up.”
Blizzard were brutally beaten by Mill Hill last weekend, but boss Simon Linden believes his boys can pull something out of the bag on Sunday.
Linden told JC Sport: "It's a big cup tie, we know that on their day, FC Team can be very good - we just need to be positive and competitive.
"I haven't had a full squad available for months - we still won't on Sunday, but we have enough in our locker to go and win this."
Problem is, Blizzard are conceding goals at an alarming rate and it wouldn’t surprise me if Team have too much for them on the day.
JC team news: Matt Davis, Ben Radstone and Josh Kaye are all unavailable for FC Team. Last season’s player’s player of the year Eddie Sternberg in line to make his first appearance since the opening game of the season.

Division One rivals Brady B and Shirley are both eyeing a place in the third round, but I'm sure both camps would exchange that for promotion, with the dream of top-flight football what matters most.
This is a big test for both teams - Brady won the recent league meeting 2-1 with goals from Reiss Mogilner and Richard Winton, and with home advantage I fancy them to take the scalp of Shirley for a second time.
Much depends on how Brady copes with Shirley's attacking threat, but when push comes to shove, Brady are the more efficient and consistent team and it's for that reason I'm tipping them to edge through.

FAITHFOLD A vs NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS C
Scoring goals has been Faithfold's biggest problem this season, but you have to fancy them to get past third division title hopefuls NLR C on Sunday.
Superhoops boss Zuriel Solomon has been struggling to put his finger on just why his troops have been unable to hit the back of the net on a regular basis - you don't get much better than Mike Pearson and Darryl Phillips in the final third. But that fact alone will give NLR confidence of pulling off the mother of all upsets.
That said, Faithfold's big-match experience holds the key for me, with Ben Law, Dan Howard, Alex Levack and Jonny Haik all having big roles to play here.
Solomon told JC Sport: "We are happy just to get a game on, but the forecast is not looking good. However, we will prepare for the game nonetheless.
"NLR C will probably come into the game not fearing us, but know that they will have to be at their best to get a result.
"We need to turn our fortunes around and come Sunday, if we bring our shooting boots then we will have nothing to worry about.
"We have an extremely small squad which has been depleted in recent months, but still have enough quality to win games.
NLR have been in excellent form in the league, but all eyes will be on whether or not they can raise their game - on grass and against top-level opposition.
Attack could be the best form of defence for Zack Gothelf's men as if they try to park the bus, they might just get stuck in the mud.

JEWDINESE vs HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB C
The magic of the cup will be alive and kicking on Sunday when Division Three rivals Jewdinese and Hendon C get ready to rumble.
'Nese will be looking to get that awful result against Temple Fortune out of their systems, although their plans have been hit by injuries to key men.
"It's been quite a disappointing week at Jewdinese," club chairman Jake Erlich told JC Sport. "However, we aim to get a win on Sunday and get a nice distraction from the challenge we face in the league.
"We have played Hendon twice this season, so are confident we know how they will play. As usual, before the result comes positive football and that is what we will bring."
Hendon have been boosted by the news that keeper Yaacov Goldin has signed a long-term deal as he performed a U-turn after initially demanding a move away from the club.
Convincingly beaten - 4-0 and 5-1 by 'Nese this season, Hendon's Adam Glekin hopes it's a case of third time lucky on Sunday - when his team has nothing to lose.
Glekin told JC Sport: "Who knows if the game is going to be on; I'm not overly confident, but if it is then I expect the conditions to be pretty poor. We'll need to be ready to fight and scrap, and I'm sure caretaker boss Chaim Strom will get the lads up for the game.
"I'm pleased Yak decided to stay, and I hope he'll show everyone the reason we were so keen to keep hold of him".
It will be interesting to see how the Hustlers set up, but I am backing 'Nese to progress.
JC team news: 'Nese have been hit hard with injuries and Erlich describes his squad as "very short on players," including long-term injuries" to Zac Brin and Sim Cohen which could see them sit out for the rest of the season.
Hendon will be without Glen Turner and the Glekin brothers for Sunday's trip to Jewdinese, but have an otherwise strong squad to select from. Avi Mocton will be hoping to make his debut after last week's game was abandoned due to the weather.

East London bragging rights are up for grabs on Sunday when Premier Division RJC welcome Chigwell of Division One.
It's a big game for so many reasons, with Chigwell hotshot Steve Summers looking to put one over his former club (remember not to celebrate if you score Stevo!)
RJC have been ticking along nicely under Sam Rosenthal this season, with Adam Stolerman enjoying a superb campaign. He is clearly a man for the big stage and his head-to-head with Summers will be worth the admission fee alone.
Chigwell's league form has been erratic and it's imperative they start well. I fear the floodgates could open if they concede in the first 20.

NORTH WEST NEASDEN vs FC TEAM C
Neasden are looking to get their season back on track when they take on Division Two promotion hopefuls FC Team C in a tie that has been postponed more than once.
Stirling Kay’s troops went down 2-1 in an important promotion tussle against Woodford and everyone in the camp will be determined to ensure there is no upset here.
From memory, I’ve tipped Team to win the previous encounters, but given what’s at stake, and the fact Team haven’t played for several weeks, I’m going to reverse my prediction for Sunday.
Kay told JC Sport: “This is a cup we want to do well in, and we will be very keen to get back to winning ways after last weeks setback.
“We know we are in for a very tough game, but hope the pitch we play on will resemble a football pitch, and not a mud-heap like last week - where football can’t be played - and the only thing gained was two more injuries.
“On the plus-side, we have brought in Rick Harris and Rob Caplin in the side and they have shown that age dose not matter they have been first class.
Team have already taken one big scalp in the cup in the shape of London Maccabi Lions. They have nothing to fear against NWN and I believe there will be little to separate the teams from 1-11. However, I feel a that a lack of match sharpness could cost them as they haven’t played since December 15 and I tipping home advantage to prove decisive in a five-goal thriller.
JC team news: NWN welcome back Dan Orgel and Michael Field, but they are missing Craig Edwards and Josh Gilbery, so we still will be with out between five and seven players.

Lions are unchanged for Sunday’s trip to White City when they take on a Camden team looking to give new boss Nick Kagan his first win since taking over from Josh Marks.
There was nothing to separate Camden and LML White a couple of weeks ago, and another tight and tense battle is on the cards on Sunday, when it's all about the result.
Camden impressed for long spells against NLR last weekend until they came unstuck in the last 20 minutes, but it was a decent first performance, with Sam Bennett impressing.
Ahead of Sunday's game, Kagan told JC Sport: "Obviously it's a massive relegation six-pointer - there were a lot of positives to take from our performance against Raiders last week, but in the end it counted for nothing.
"On Sunday we absolutely have to turn those positives into three points - which we will do if we put in a similar showing. We know that there's no room for error.
"This season has been a learning curve for us, but I'm convinced we belong at this level - it's up to the team as a whole to prove that. There's a good atmosphere in the dressing room, and if everything clicks on Sunday, Lions might just be in for a rude awakening."
Sunday will separate the men from the boys and I'm tipping Camden to take the three precious points.

BRADY MACCABI A vs FC TEAM A
Brady had an absolute nightmare of a season last weekend, but we might just see a different team altogether when FC Team visit the Lane.
There was simply no hiding place for Joel Nathan and co as they were put to the sword 4-1 by Lions Blue, but they must put that horror show behind them and only look forward.
"Last week was a very bad day, but we are determined to put that right on Sunday against FC Team," Nathan told JC Sport. "Yes we beat them earlier in the season, but anyone who watched would have said they deserved at least a draw and I am sure they will be up for revenge.
"Just like us they will be safe in the Premier for another season, but both of us want to win and end up as high up the table as possible.
"We always have good battles against them and the boys are looking forward to Sunday so that we can get back on winning ways."
This has ultimately been a season of disappointment for Mitch Young's men, but they are capable of beating anyone in the division - on their day.
But with nine games remaining, it's vital they start picking up points from somewhere, as the R-word is unthinkable.
I think Sunday will come down to small details, but don't expect a classic.

OAKWOOD A vs LONDON MACCABI LIONS BLUE
Oakwood were simply too good for LML Blue when the teams met in December and they will be looking to repeat the level of performance and 5-0 victory on Sunday.
Guy Helman (2), Bradley Wine (2) and Anthony Kintish netted that day and the team goes into this game in tip top form.
Only three points will do for joint-manager Ric Blank who told JC Sport: "Since we last played football, a lot has happened. We've hired Ben Polak as joint second team manager for starters. Pol is the man to get the boys into gear with the aim of ending the season more impressively than they started it. He's doing a great job so far. Standout highlight - last sunday when the game was off.
"There will be some other big announcements to come in the near future - but not just yet. For now we're going to focus on winning games with the aim of taking our season up a level. We've had some knocks so these weeks off haven't necessarily been the worst thing for us.
"I just got off the phone to Eddie Manson who's recovering from a knee op. He's barely missed a game due to the weather so he was in great spirits. Only messing - anyone that knows Eddie Manson knows that just wouldn't be the case. He's perma-cranked that boy.
"Anyway, I digress, we've kept ourselves busy. DG recovered from a knee injury and flirted with the idea of celebrating with a pair of luminous boots. I told him he could get it half price if he didn't bother with the left one. You get where I'm going. Harvey Kaye has been running marathons in his spare time, and bodybuilding with Kossy in his other spare time. DC's renovated his flat, Kinny left his job, Josh Bentley was busy mensching and Sam and Scorah spent most of january buying every check shirt Uniqlo could stock. In short, we've been busy. But obviously no-one more so than Schocky. Back-to-backs all day, Danny, back-to-backs.
"So we're looking forward to playing again on Sunday, but as I write this the sky's have opened up. If the game's on we'll do what we can. Lions have been in great form and might have some different players from when we beat them 5-0 at Rowley.
"You never know what team you're going to get when you play Lions so we'll be ready for their best."
LML Blue earned the result of their season when they dished out a 4-1 beating to Brady. But they might not see much of the ball on Sunday.

Blancos are ready to unleash new signing Zak Mcleod Brixton in what is an important game for both teams.
Neither side beat the weather last weekend but they will have the opportunity to lay down a marker and go some one to guaranteeing Division One football again next season.
Jono Gaon has been Blancos’ star man this season and I expect him to fill his boots against the Brixton boys, especially with Adam Hersh back playing alongside him.
Blancos boss Jonathan Ison told JC Sport: “At this stage of the season, every game is huge. We are level on points with Brixton and a win would be a great result.
“We have a full squad of 14 this week, although a few regulars are unable to play.
“New signing Zak Mcleod will be hoping to get as much time on the pitch as possible, and we hope he can repeat his goal-scoring exploits from the last time we saw him play - though this time he'll be scoring for instead of against us!”
“We're excited Hersh is available to play - triplets may be quite time-consuming, but the opportunity to put the famous Blancos shirt on is clearly too tempting for our ex gaffer to resist!”
We really hope to get the points on Sunday, and I certainly believe we have the squad available to do it!”
Brixton had a good result last time out, but the Blancos deserve isn’t quite as generous as Hendon B’s and they will find chances harder to come by on Sunday.
This is a game I can see being won and lost in midfield.

“We know that nothing less than a win will do on Sunday.” Those were the words of NLR boss Jonathan Adelman ahead of the trip to struggling London Haroldeans.
Finding a pitch has been a major obstacle for L’Orange this week, but as has often been the case this season, they passed the test with flying colours, although London Haroldeans may not be so grateful come 11.45am on Sunday.
Three points would virtually secure promotion for Jonathan Adelman’s men, but they will stop at nothing less than the title, and I reckon they’ll be looking to fill their boots against a team with the worst defensive record in the division.
Adelman told JC Sport: “After Haroldeans’ home pitch was unavailable, I have to pay tribute to Rob Richman and Jonny Blain who managed to find a new 3G facility which was available and which will beat the bad weather. It just goes to show that Hendon A clearly haven't been trying hard enough to get games on - they have no-one to blame but themselves for their fixture pile up!”
Confidence is rock bottom for Haroldeans who were played off the park by promotion-chasing Redbridge B last Sunday. 10 (ten) goals flew past Lee Bassin, with a couple caught by the JC cameraman on a morning to forget for Jonathan Abrams’ men.
I really hope for their sake their don’t concede a hatful again, but with Blain, Esterkin and Woolf on song, don’t bet against it.

KING CROWN vs BOCA JEWNIORS
The Boca camp were hit with a real bombshell on the eve of the King Crown game when manager Jack Shulman informed that he will be stepping down at the end of the season.
Shulman has done a terrific job since taking over, lifting the club to new heights. I have no doubt his players will look to do him proud between now and May and finish with a flourish.
After ruling himself out of the Swansea job, Shulman told JC Sport that he is unable to juggle MGBSFL management with a return to university.
I’ve also heard rumours he could be taking over the reins at Oakhill Lions in the MJSL for season 2014/15.

L’EQUIPE vs CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI
Promotion rivals L’Equipe and Catford & Bromley are preparing for what could be an almighty battle in the race for a top two finish.
Yet to meet this season, both teams are handily placed, although they know NLR C, Jewdinese and AC Whetstone will take some shifting.
Match sharpness could be something of an issue for the Cats who have not played in the league since December 15. Lester Jacobs’ men have registered eight wins out of 15, though they have failed to score in two of their last three matches.
Locating the back of the net has not been an issue for L’Equipe this season. Richard Fogelman has been banging in the goals on a regular basis, but he’ll do well to shake off the attentions of Jeff Gotch on Sunday in what is the key battle for me.
L’Equipe are unbeaten at home this season – winning four out of five – while Catford’s recent away form is far from impressive.
This all points to a narrow L’Equipe win in my humble opinion.

LOUGHTON ORIENT vs AC WHETSTONE
Loughton will be looking to put a spanner in Whetstone’s promotion works in a classic battle of youth and experience.
The Whetstone wonder kids have been like a breath of fresh air this season, and the team are determined to disprove the theory “you win nothing with kids!”
The Stones have registered 20 goals in their last four outings and I expect Marc Jacobs to be the busier of the two keepers.

Faithfold C have not set the world alight this season. Results and performances have dipped well below what long-standing manager David Garson was expecting and now they are simply scrapping around for pride and points.
The one thing that looks guaranteed on Sunday are goals; although Fortune have kept only one clean sheet, they looked rock solid and organised against ‘Nese last time out, so anyone hoping for another 5-1 landslide victory can think again.
Fortune boss Jonathan Cohen told JC Sport: “We have almost a full quote of players available this week and my biggest problem is looking to get everyone involved after such a good win against Jewdinese.
“However, we know how big this game is for us. We were bottom of the league for so much of the season and we have no desire to be there again, but Faithfold proved to be a real handful for us last time, particularly their strikers, so we will have to on top form to win the game.
“Morale in the squad and we are looking forward to playing again after two-week break, but the weather may have the final say on Sunday morning.”
Dan Gordon and Elliot Bloom were Faithfold’s goal-scoring heroes in the corresponding fixture, but Fortune have the bit between their teeth and the signs look good for what many has labelled a home banker.
