NORTH WEST NEASDEN vs FC TEAM C
Neasden are looking to get their season back on track when they take on Division Two promotion hopefuls FC Team C in a tie that has been postponed more than once.

Stirling Kay’s troops went down 2-1 in an important promotion tussle against Woodford and everyone in the camp will be determined to ensure there is no upset here.

From memory, I’ve tipped Team to win the previous encounters, but given what’s at stake, and the fact Team haven’t played for several weeks, I’m going to reverse my prediction for Sunday.

Kay told JC Sport: “This is a cup we want to do well in, and we will be very keen to get back to winning ways after last weeks setback.

“We know we are in for a very tough game, but hope the pitch we play on will resemble a football pitch, and not a mud-heap like last week - where football can’t be played - and the only thing gained was two more injuries.

“On the plus-side, we have brought in Rick Harris and Rob Caplin in the side and they have shown that age dose not matter they have been first class.

Team have already taken one big scalp in the cup in the shape of London Maccabi Lions. They have nothing to fear against NWN and I believe there will be little to separate the teams from 1-11.

Ahead of the tie, an FC Team spokesman told JC Sport: "We are just hoping to get it played. The boys are missing playing on a Sunday morning and are a hungry for another higher division team's scalp.

"It's a big game and big players need to stand up and be recognised. Key player this week is the keeper known as 'The Shepherd' - he herds his defence into action ... Michael 'Vito Manonne' Myers."

However, I feel a that a lack of match sharpness could cost them as they haven’t played since December 15 and I tipping home advantage to prove decisive in a five-goal thriller.

JC team news: NWN welcome back Dan Orgel and Michael Field, but they are missing Craig Edwards and Josh Gilbery, so we still will be with out between five and seven players.

CAMDEN PARK vs AC MILL HILL
There’s great excitement in the Mill Hill camp ahead of what manager Joe Levy is describing as the “biggest game in the history of the club”.

With little more than pride to play for in the league, they have nothing to lose when they make the long journey to west London for a meeting with Premier Division Camden Park.

Ben Zloof and Mark Truman earned them a point against Oakwood B last weekend, but it was a game Levy would rather forget.

He told JC Sport: “I hope my players have calmed down a bit after last week’s shenanigans. Luckily none of the three players sent off will be banned, so we are at near full-strength.

“We will be looking for another big upset and will scrap hard all over the pitch to achieve it.”

Camden were rock solid at Rowley Lane last weekend as they earned another point in their battle against relegation in the goalless draw at Lions Blue.

Keeper Will Castle and captain fantastic Max Saunders were their star performers and manager Josh Marks hopes that his starting XI remember their shooting boots and are firing on all cylinders to ensure there is no upset here.

Ahead of the game, Marks told JC Sport: “We’ve got a few people on a skiing trip, but hopefully a good enough team to get us in the semis.

“We don’t know much about AC Mill Hill, but with our league run looking awful, I’m relying on the cup to bring us some joy this year.”

I can see Camden progressing as long as they remain composed in front of goal and they should have enough quality at the back to keep danger man Zloof quiet.

WOODFORD WANDERERS vs HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A
Woodford Wanderers are aiming to play Premier Division football next season so Sunday will be the perfect test for Tony Charles and his Division One table-toppers.

The east Londoners bounced back well from their Anekstein defeat, with Jason Goldstein and talisman Mitch Hahn on target in the 2-1 win over Neasden.

It’s important Woodford don’t lay on the red carpet treatment for the 2012 cup winners and I don’t think that will be the case with Charles at the helm.

“We are looking forward to finally playing a good team - it will certainly make a change from the teams we’ve played recently,” Charles told JC Sport.

“I know the team are excited for the game, it was only the other week i overheard one of boys saying how he used to dream about playing Hendon Sports Club A in the Cyril Anekstein quarter-final.”
Hendon were beaten by the weather once again, but manager David Garbacz was keen to advise fans that although they have a major backlog, he won’t be rotating for a game you’d expect them to win on paper. Only problem is, there’s a fair chance it will be played in mud this weekend!

Garbacz told JC Sport: “We realise we are going to be on for an almighty fixture congestion towards the end of the season, but that doesn't mean we will be going easier in any of the cups .

“This has all the makings of a banana skin - Woodford are going great guns in Division One and Mitch Hahn seems to be getting all the rave reviews, so no doubt he will be a danger.

“However, we will go into the game as favourites and slowly but surely our supremacy should tell. We have scored bundles so far in the competition this year and will aim to be on the offensive again from the kick off - we are desperate to play - hopefully Fairlop will survive the elements and it should be a great game.”

Garbacz went on to say: “One final thought away from this game. Do the league really think it is fair that Norstar have played 14 league games this season, including nearly all of them on their home astro-turf pitch? Why should they be taking teams back to their own 3G where they have a huge advantage in the event of a postponement as happened last week against FC Team?

“It’s just a thought, but it doesn’t seem like a fair playing field to all. If anything they should be giving up that pitch to teams like us who are desperately searching London for a 3G when the rain kicks in, and have massive games to catch up on rather than giving themselves another massive advantage.”

It will be all about the magic of the cup and I’m looking to forward to hearing about the battle of the magicians – Greg Corin and Hahn – which will be well worth the admission fee alone.

I can't see there being too much between the teams on Sunday, but think that Hendon's big match experience will hold the key.

JC team news: Hendon will be missing Yoav Kestenbaum (uni) and Alex Rosenthal . Everyone else should be available.

LOS BLANCOS vs NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS A
The magic of the cup will be alive and kicking on the mudflats of west Hendon on Sunday as runaway Premier Division leaders NLR put their treble credentials on the line.

NLR fans should be warned that Blancos reached the last four of the same competition a couple of years ago, so they should take nothing for granted in a game where conditions might prove something of a leveller.

David Dinkin, Matt Stock and Josh Green sent NLR 14 points clear in the league last week, but it wouldn’t surprise me if manager Phil Peters rotates and gives one or two squad players a start on Sunday.

Peters told me this week that his players are ready and "raring to go". He told JC Sport: "Blancos have beaten our Cs and Bs already in the competition so we need to put that right, plus Raiders old boys Darren Russell, Nick Grosse and Matt Keston need to be taught a lesson.

"Norstar gave Josh and Jono Gaon their big break in Jewish football and it's amazing to see how much they've developed. They're certainly Blancos’ biggest threats and if we deal with them we should win the match.

"We hope the game survives the weather, but if not then it will probably move to our 3G pitch…"

With some Team Maccabi GB scouts possibly in attendance, Blancos hotshot Jono Gaon will be looking to impress once more, and continuing his goal-scoring ways following his match-winning double against Hendon last week – a result which eased their relegation fears.

But Blancos boss Jonathan Ison is aware his troops must play out of their skins as they have yet to keep a clean sheet in the league this season and are unlikely to be able to keep NLR out for 90 minutes – so attack may be their best form of defence.

Ison told JC Sport: "This week we do not have the selection dilemmas of last week, unfortunately. With a couple of players missing, we'll be going into this game against Raiders as below full-strength.

"We have performed really well, at times, this season and we know that if we are on the top of our game, we can certainly give Raiders a good run for their money.

"We know it will be a tough game, but we are certainly hoping to rise to the occasion."

I can see Blancos huffing and puffing for an hour, but in the end Raiders’ superiority will shine through.

JC team news: NLR have a strong squad out this week, but they will be missing Oli Henry, Mike Hershman and Adam Joselyn.

BRADY MACCABI A vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A
Redbridge are only halfway through their campaign but with NLR having set the bar so high, they cannot afford many slip-ups along the way. Their next big test comes against second-placed Brady at the Lane on Sunday.

Like NLR, RJC have only lost once this season, but I can see Brady asking big questions of their title credentials in a classic battle of youth against experience.

RJC will go into the game with the psychological edge having beaten Brady 3-0 in October. Adam Stolerman and Danny Berg were the scorers that day. But I expect things to be much closer this time, on a better surface.

Mike Kenley is enjoying an excellent season and the young Brady marksman is sure to keep the RJC defence of their toes as the Rowley Lane outfit looks to make it three wins on the spin. It's also worth remembering the east Londoners lost on their last trip to Rowley Lane.

Brady boss Joel Nathan told JC Sport: "We are stretched with injuries and boys at uni, but we will put out a strong team who will give their all.

"It was a shame we couldn't play last week, but we know Redbridge have a strong title chance and they will be looking to put us to the sword again just like they did in the reverse league fixtur. But we want revenge and, as you know, we can definitely influence the title race as we have to play RJC and Hendon, and the boys will not roll over."

The fact that RJC have kept five clean sheets in the league should not be ignored either. Rarely do they concede cheap goals and I can see their winning mentality taking them through.

FC TEAM A vs LONDON MACCABI LIONS WHITE
Lions White used to be the side FC Team aspired to be, but there has been a real shift in balance in recent times.

However, both sides have under-achieved this season, although the Lions are under-going something of a rebuilding project.

Team were put to bed 3-1 by NLR last weekend, after Marc Harris had put them ahead. They missed the physical presence of top-scorer Richard Salmon and now there is a real emphasise on picking up points to ensure they stay away from the danger zone.

So this is essentially a relegation six-pointer – there’s a lot at stake for both sets of players.

LONDON MACCABI LIONS BLUE vs FAITHFOLD A
Fourth place now looks the best for last season’s champions Faithfold, but they won’t have things all their own way at Rowley Lane against Lions Blue on Sunday.

The Superhoops have failed to reach the same heights as last season but with a big cup game against Oakwood next week, several players will be determined to show their worth and remind manager Zuriel Solomon of their quality.

Confidence, rhythm and momentum are three key words in football – they are hard to find and easy to lose, so Solomon must remind his players what made them so good last season and then take it from there. By and large, he is working with the same players, but the biggest difference is that the goals haven’t been flowing so freely this time around.

The Lions are desperate for points, although boss Jamie Kyte put all his eggs into one basket at his midweek press conference – amid fears they could park the bus – and told JC Sport that he’s “hoping for a win”.

This one may not offer five-star entertainment but it should be a decent game nonetheless, between two honest and hard-working teams.

JC team news: LML centre-half Ed Arghebant is out injured, while brother, Sam, is rated doubtful.

The feel-good-factor returned to the SPEC FC camp this week, with Ricky Lawrence in particularly jovial mood ahead of the important trip to Brady.

SPEC FC fans don’t know whether to laugh or cry over their league predicament, but Lawrence is a big believer is the positive vibe bringing the best out of his bunch.

Ahead of the game, he told JC Sport: "After recent events, club chairman Stuart Burns has had to issue a statement urging SPEC fans to stay away from the ground on safety grounds. Number one fan Jeremy Lawrence has confirmed he is ‘willing to risk it’ and is ready to brave it and nothing will stop him from watching his team.

"James Lesner is taking over from Laurence Conway whilst the manager is away and he has been working all week on ways to wind up former player Dave Newman. Only time will tell if it’ll prove successful or not."

Brady beat SPEC 3-1 in October. Reiss Mogilner (2) and Josh Newman saw them home and it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if lightning strikes twice.

CHIGWELL ATHLETIC vs BRIXTON OLD BOYS
Any of the bottom five could go down, but realistically one would think Chigwell and Brixton have the best chance of avoiding the unthinkable.

Chigwell fans are still coming to terms with the fact they will have to continue without defender Lee Hyams who recently announced his retirement from the game through injury. News came as a massive blow for manager Richard Slater who has been scouring the transfer window in a bid to pick up an experience and tough defender.

I was really expect Chigs to kick on this season – and even didn’t heap any pressure on them in my pre-season predictions – but they have fallen woefully short of the standards their manager has set.

It’s hard to believe their last league win came in October, but with home advantage against Brixton, Slater hopes his troops can turn Peter May back into a fortress between now and the end of the season.

Brixton start the game in a slightly better position, but that could all change over the next 90 minutes in a game that both teams must treat as their cup finals.

SHIRLEY PARK vs SOUTHGATE HARMEN
Southgate Harmen will be looking to finish the weekend in top spot in what promises to be a real thriller against promotion rivals Shirley Park.

They were ultimately well beaten by Shirley earlier in the season when Adam Klein scored the goal of the game with one of his special free-kicks in a 5-2 Shirley win.

But Harmen have responded well since then - winning three out of four – and a win would really set them up for the business end of the season.

Joint-manager Joel Alterman told JC Sport: "With a week’s break from football forced upon us through the weather, the young Harmen boys will be looking to hit Shirley Park with a barrage of pent up energy which will be in contrast to our two previous outings against the Shirley Park boys.

"Our major team news this week is the absence of our two regular goalkeepers which sees a return between the sticks for Sam 'The Cat' Castle. Everyone in all leagues of Jewish football knows the ability of goalkeeper-turned defender-turned midfielder-turned-striker with the gloves and the relief of not having to face Harmen's top-goalscorer will be short-lived when they are reminded just how good 'The Cat' is."

In his last outing, Castle helped a depleted Harmen team match a strong Woodford team in front of the cameras in Essex and he will be looking to do the same for a much stronger Harmen team when they make the trip to Edmonton.

Engleman went on to say: "With this being Ricky Rinder's final game before he embarks on his travels, it is a game that the whole squad will give their all in to ensure Rinder has the perfect send off."

The key battle for me on Sunday is the one between Harmen's Lee Greenfield and Shirley centre-half Ilan Shaki.

But it won’t just be about those two as there will be bags of quality on show in what I expect to be a high-scoring contest.

Had this fixture been played a few weeks ago, I’d have tipped Oakwood to win. Comfortably. But both team’s fortunes have changed, even if Faithfold slipped up last weekend.

But there was a definite improvement from Oakwood against Mill Hill last week and they will be confident of completing a league double over a Faithfold team they beat 4-3 in the autumn.

With Oaks manager Ian Tussie unavailable, Ben Polak had this to say. "Ian won't be facing the press this week again – he’s really unhappy with some of the treatment to be honest. He gave me a statement to read out: "I'm boycotting the press after what I believed to be unfair questioning in last week's press conference about my lack of official Maccabiah coaching badges. I have also banned the clubs twitter editor @tboatjiatl from attending matches after he started the #freedaveepstein viral campaign and then leaked news that Dave Woolman was starting last week.

"As you can see he's not happy, the gaffer. He's under immense pressure Danny, the relegation battle has really been taking its toll, if truth be told. I caught him watching a re run of Man City's crunch game against Liverpool in 1996, 'Lomas, what are you doing taking the ball into the corner', he kept shouting, 'Southampton aren't losing'. It was all a load of gobbledygook to me.

"Well, Danny, I can tell you that we won't be taking the ball into the corner on Sunday. It's a six-pointer so there's a lot of points up for grabs, AND we're going there to take all of them. We stopped the rot last Sunday, but I want a win on Sunday.

"A lot of people have asked me what I've changed since being appointed assistant to the manager. Well to be honest the set up is terrific here, the boys just needed to play with some confidence and belief - the lads are starting to enjoy their football again, I even caught Scotsman Adam Blin crack a smile the other day."

Faithfold no. 2 Dan Yoss gave a brutally honest assessment after last week’s 3-0 defeat against league leaders NLR B. He told JC Sport: "Things didn't go to plan. We just didn’t turn up ... maybe the 9am start got to us."

There's a danger this one won't pass the famous Chase Lodge pitch inspection, but if it does it should be a cracker.

JC team news: Oakwood have a couple out - Stefan Isaacs is away putting together a finance package for the team’s late assault on the transfer window. Adam Blin and Carl Peters are doubts.

Haroldeans boss Jonathan Abrams has been locked in talks to find a new keeper after Darren Witcoop told him “enough is enough. You need me outfield”.

Abrams has been frantically flicking through the Yellow Pages in a bid to find a reliable custodian who can help the team get out of trouble.

Blizzard have had a mixed bag of results on their 3g home, but the main thing is this game will definitely go ahead and is one you should mark down as a home win, although I’m not confident enough to call it a banker.

FC TEAM B vs ATHLETIC BILBAUM
Expect the unexpected. That has been FC Team B’s motto this season. Rooted to the foot of the Division Two table, David Gordon’s troops will provide dangerous opposition for Bilbaum, and it’s hard to call a winner on Sunday.

Bilbaum’s last league win came in early November. They have lost three on the spin and managers Mark Pasha and Edward Green will be looking for a big reaction as they look to bounce back from the recent 4-1 bashing at NLR.

Team appear to have turned the corner in their last three outings, but they’ve been blighted by inconsistency this term and it’s vital they adopt a no-nonsense approach to defending against a side that doesn’t struggle for goals.

If Team play their cards right, I can see them winning a game of goals.

NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS C vs LOUGHTON ORIENT
Norstar are looking to stay at the top having battled all season to reach the summit of Division Three.

They looked the real deal against Faithfold C last weekend, with Will Ufland the star man for me in an 8-2 demolition.

Zack Gothelf’s troops are playing their sexy football with a smile on their faces and I expect them to have the lion’s-share of possession on Sunday.

He told JC Sport: "We're once again at home - which will delight the fans who make the tireless journey from north London to Wembley. We'll look to continue our impressive home league form against a team who beat us on what was comfortably our worst performance of the season and a real blip.

"With a couple of Essex boys in our team, they'll be out to put one over their fellow countymen!

"We're still without a couple of long-term injuries and a couple of injuries sustained in the demolition of Faithfold will need to be looked at, but we are hoping to have Alex Goodman back having hopefully shaken off an ankle injury once again.

"Confidence and team spirit are high amongst the Oranges and we'll look to continue this on Sunday.”

Loughton boss Dan Curtis hopes rustiness doesn't affect his players who have played some really good stuff at times this season.

He told JC Sport: "It's been a while since our last game which is a shame as we really hit some form before the New Year.

"We expect a very tough game this weekend, but we have been training hard and will be ready come kick-off.

"Our squad is the largest it's ever been and I will have some tough decisions to make before announcing the squad."

I've played against both NLR and Loughton this season and have been impressed. But when push comes to shove, home advantage will be a key factor for L’Orange on Sunday.

FAITHFOLD C vs CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI
Title-chasing Catford go in search of their second league double of the season when they take on struggling Faithfold at Chase Lodge.

Lester Jacobs’s boys are confident of winning their first game since November 24 as they look to repeat the 2-0 victory over the Superhoops. Tom Prevezer and Eli Baraty were the scorers that day.

“It feels like years since we last played, so hopefully we'll finally get a game,” Catford captain Adam Luria told JC Sport.

“Despite one or two absences, we’ve got a strong squad of 16 for Lester Jacobs to choose from and we’ll be hungry to get back to action. Whoever starts is going to have to put in no less than 100 per cent as we’ve got a whole squad of able players queuing up for a starting berth.”

Faithfold hit rock bottom against NLR last weekend, but manager David Garson remains determined to get things right. The 8-2 scoreline was an absolute disaster and the players owe their manager and fans a performance and result.

JEWDINESE vs TEMPLE FORTUNE
If you’re looking for a home banker this weekend, then look no further. Jewdinese are unbeaten at fortress MPL and they will approach Sunday’s meeting with basement battlers Fortune with relish.

Five wins and two draws is an excellent return from Jake Erlich’s young guns who will be looking to add more misery on a Fortune team that, well, let’s face it, doesn’t win very often.

I caught up with Erlich before the game and here’s what he told JC Sport. “As always, we are playing for the three points. Now that we are on level games with Norstar we can assess the rest of the season and everyone knows that from now until the last game it is going to be a challenge.”

“With no disrespect to Temple Fortune we aim to boost our goal difference, but expect a well-contested game, with some nice football on show.”

Fortune failed to build on their point against King Crown as they were put to the sword against King Crown last weekend. A double from Darren Zitren was the highlight for Jonathan Cohen’s men for whom damage limitation looks the best bet here.

Men against boys this week be, just as long as Jewdinese avoid complacency and are patient.

JC team news: ‘Nese’s Zac Brin misses the game with a groin injury.

L’EQUIPE vs HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB C
Hendon got a six-goal thumping against Whetstone last weekend and that will be music to the ears of Golden Boot favourite Richard Fogelman ahead of the meeting with L’Equipe.

The Hustlers start Sunday’s match a point ahead of L’Equipe, but they have played four games more – during which time they have still scored three goals less.

The Reds have conceded 12 goals in their last three outings and the only way I can see them getting something here is by trying to outscore L’Equipe, but that will be easier said than done.

L’Equipe fans will be delighted to hear the boy Fogelman is back and Hendon should consider double-parking the team bus, although others have tried and failed, miserably.

Schnitzelman is determined to help his teammates climb the table with promotion the name of the game.

He told JC Sport: “I’m raring to go and extend my lead for the Golden Boot. With four games in hand and four goals on Flash [Dan Gordon] - he needs to do something very special to catch up and is probably out the running!

“I’m waiting eagerly to see if anyone else attempts to prize my second Golden Boot away from me....and if they do then they can expect the mind games to start!”

I’m predicting a flurry of goals, with Fogelman among them again, and a thrilling home win.
