Maccabi's winning run halted by Snipe Inn

The second half ultimately decided the game. Snipe doubled and trebled their lead within a period of ten minutes, leaving the yellow and blues trailing by three.

Young Jamie Hatton entered the pitch and momentum started to shift. He pulled Maccabi back into the game with a beautifully struck volley and started to run the game from the middle of the park.

Hatton then hit the frame of the goal with a thunderbolt of a volley. With minutes to go, Greg Jacobs popped up from a corner after Basso kept the ball alive from a deep Levy corner.

The (fourth) official gave two minutes of added on time, but it was long enough for Maccabi to create a change. Sam Hatton won a free-kick on the right hand side. Toby Levy whipped in a menacing ball that was met by Goldman at the front stick, forcing a match-winning save from the Snipe no. 1, preserving his side's narrow advantage.

Maccabi player-manager Michael Sacks praised his boys despite the defeat: "We made it hard for ourselves today against a well-organised Snipe team.

"The boys showed character and spirit to get back into the game late on and were pushing right up to the final whistle."

Sacks added: "Next week we meet a resurgent Manchester Rovers team, who are on a winning streak of their own, so it's important that we get back to winning ways."
