Lipman take top honour at London Lions awards - The Jewish Chronicle

Lipman, the former Arsenal and England Youth star, is the first player at Lions to retain the award following an excellent season in which the team won the SSML Division One League Cup. Lipman was praised for “his superb technical ability that stands him out as a player that is at the centre of everything good in the first team”. Lions boss Andy Landesberg remarked: “Austin has been consistent and his ability to score and create goals is priceless for our club”.

Striker Adam Bolle collected the first team Players' Player of the Year and Golden Boot prizes. Bolle returned to Lions during the early stages of the season following a number of years plying his trade in the Ryman League. Landesberg commented: “His impact was immediate and he gave us the firepower we needed back in the Spartan South Midlands League with 34 goals”. Landesberg described Bolle’s “record six-goal haul against Broadfields was a highlight of an excellent season”.

Tyler Smith received the Young Player award. After breaking into the Lions first team, he went on to make 36 appearances. Landesberg commented”: Tyler showed he can be an important part of the future of the team. With excellent pace, and skill, to go with the correct attitude, he joins an illustrious list of names who he can aim to emulate.”

The Golden Glove award went to U18 goalkeeper Nathan Bloohn. He enjoyed an “impressive first season with the team and has taken it all in his stride with excellent shot-stopping and handling ability”. Bloohn stepped up to the U21 team “and looked equally impressive”.

Andrew Miller and Steve Gordon won the Managers of the Year after leading Maccabi London Lions U13s to the quadruple. Miller and Gordon led the Lions to victory in the County Cup, Watford Friendly League title and triumphs in two other cup competitions.

Adam Myeroff capped a fine season by becoming the first recipient of the Club Person of the Year for his “on-field contribution to the club”. A stalwart since 1999, Myeroff was commended for “playing consistently and with a great positive approach to the game throughout his career”. His return to first-team action this season in his late 30’s has allowed him to amass over 450 appearances, a club record by some margin.

Asher has been a great performer in our Under 16 White team and has shown a fantastic attitude which has seen him develop hugely over the last 18 months.

Andy and Steve have had another stellar season which has seen them have probably the most successful year of any Lions Junior side we have ever had, by winning a quadruple including the Herts County Cup. They regain their title as Junior Managers of the Year.
