David Wolff insists the MGBSFL must remain an FA-affiliated league and he believes that those who feel it should relax some of its rules are “short-sighted”.
Speaking at a meeting to address the future of the London league on Monday, Mr Wolff described suggestions such as introducing emergency loans, rolling substitutes and a restructure as “peripheral measures” that would be discussed at the league’s AGM.

League chairman Mr Wolff said: “We’re bound by FA rules, otherwise we’d have no referees or disciplinary measures. They can also help with funding initiatives.”
Representatives from Maccabi League clubs put forward suggestions on how the 32-team league can consolidate amid declining numbers, with former champions Faithfold A and London Rovers folding during the season.
"Bringing in new teams is the priority,” said Mr Wolff who has been involved with the league for more than 50 years.
"Some of the suggestions might sustain it for a while but we need to better it and source better numbers. It’s not a quick fix.
"The league is there for those who want it. In the days when we had 65 teams there were more people around who wanted to play but now we’re competing with factors such as the Premier League and small-sided football.
"Obviously people care about the Maccabi League but I think we’re very limited about what we can do.
"I don’t see someone to step into my shoes with the same care and vigour which is worrying."
