TEMPLE FORTUNE A vs WOODFORD WANDERERS
Consolidation looks to be the name of the game for both Fortune and Woodford this season.

Fortune went up as champions last season while the Wanderers profited from a league restructure.

Of the two teams, Fortune have made the better start despite the loss of star defender Scott Shindler over the summer.

Summer signings Jason Miller and Paul Rubenstein featured in last week's hard earned draw against unbeaten Redbridge B at Fairlop. Keeper Steve Murad earned a place in my Team of the Week after an excellent display in nets while Brett Stead also came in for special praise from my reporter.

Now manager Lee Fegan is looking forward to another clash against a team from east London. Reflecting on last week's point, he told JC Sport: "We had the edge in the first half and played lovely football. Last 10 minutes of the first half we let them back in, and in the second half they pegged us back."

Fegan also felt that his troops should have been awarded a penalty, although his comments were less controversial than those of AVB after the QPR game. "I thought we should have had a penalty claim towards the end. He definitely clipped Michael Goldberg. But we should have had our men back and we should have played to the whistle. We were punished for it," he said.

Woodford have made a woeful start in the league. The absence of Mitch Hahn has resulted in a lack of goals. Manager Alex Aviram has been working hard to bring in some new faces with a strike partner for Jerome Marks the priority.

They have failed to register in 360 minutes in the league and I've heard reports that Aviram re-introduced the barn door to training this week.

I expect home advantage to play a part on Sunday, enabling Fortune to take the points.

DIVISION TWO

L’EQUIPE vs FAITHFOLD B
L’Equipe felt they had turned the corner following the recent win in the cup, but they were given a rude awkening by Hendon B last week.

Five goals flew in without reply so once again, manager David Prager must raise spirits ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Faithfold B.

Meeting for the first time this season, L’Equipe’s problem is simple they haven’t scored enough and they concede too freely.

Faithfold were edged out by high-flying Camden last weekend. That was their first defeat in the league and it’s vital that they bounce back here.

I’m tipping the boys in green and white to run out narrow winners in a hard fought contest.

NORSTAR B vs FC TEAM B
FC Team boss Ben Simon is in buoyant mood ahead of Sunday’s trip to the Ark.

Last weekend his boys claimed a famous win at Rowley Lane with Adam Goldsmith and Philip Braham on target in a 2-1 win against Lions B.

After the game, Simon told JC Sport: "We played well in the first half and were unlucky to go in at 1-1. In the second half it was a backs-to-the-wall job, we put in a very resilient performance and then snatched victory in the closing minutes with a great strike from Phil.

"I'm very pleased with how everybody performed and we go into the next game full of confidence."

Having won three and lost three, consistency is now the name of the game for FC Team and they will go to the Ark believing they can take at least a point.

Norstar’s search for that elusive first league win goes into a fifth match. They were soundly beaten by Glenthorne A last weekend and manager Jonny Bunt will be looking for an all-round improvement.

I think the first goal will be crucial on Sunday and can see FC Team going from strength to strength.

UJIA vs BLIZZARD STORM
UJIA will be looking to finish the weekend joint-second when they welcome struggling Blizzard to the Lodge.

Manager Darren Rolfe could not have been happier last weekend when they put Los Blancos to the sword, running out 5-1 winners.

Israeli hotshot Assi Avital rolled back the years with a vintage display, with Ben Nassim finishing the job. Experienced defender Gavin Sherman put in another excellent 90 minutes at the back alongside the commanding Jeremy Leigh.

Blizzard’s best result of the season to date came in the cup, but they have fallen short of the mark in the league so far. No wins from five is not the kind of start that manager Simon Linden was looking for.

Speaking after last week’s 2-2 draw against Hendon C, Linden told JC Sport: “This was the story of our season so far. We dominated large parts of the game but let them in twice and drew. Luck has to change as we should be murdering teams like Hendon."

UJIA have the bit between their teeth right now and I can see their momentum helping them over the line again. It should be a cracker.

DIVISION FOUR

ATHLETICO FINCHLEY vs TEMPLE FORTUNE B
Terry Jeffries’ troops are odds-on coming away from Copthall with maximum points when they take on Athletico.

Fortune were back to their best last week when the free-scoring Joey Glynne and Adam Glekin were the scorers in a battling 2-1 win over Brixton B.

A relieved Glekin told JC Sport: “We were missing a few key men but I thought we shaded it and deserved the win.

"It was a real team effort and shows we've got depth in the squad which should stand us in good stead for the rest of the season."

The Finchley boys were hit for six by leaders Raiders C last Sunday. It’s been a tough start for Dovid Kurzer and co who have conceded an average of five goals a week so far.

I can’t see their luck changing on Sunday against a Fortune team who are particularly menacing at set-pieces.

BOCA JEWNIORS vs JEWVENTUS
Revenge is the name of the game for Boca on Sunday as they look to right the wrongs of last weekend’s 4-1 defeat against the Jewve boys.

Three goals from Nigel Sommeck steered Gabriel John’s troops to their first win of the season. They have a great chance to double up against a team that is struggling to put the ball in the net.

Speaking after the game last Sunday, John told JC Sport: "All in all a good day at the office for Jewve, and a return leg comes as early as next week, so we'll be hoping for more of the same."

Boca had their chances but they have been unable to locate the onion bag on a regular basis this term.

Farrell Monk told JC Sport: "I felt that my team were fashioning better chances, especially on the break, but after winning a lot from countless corners and throw-ins, we weren’t able to take the ball up field for our attackers to cause more effective damage.

"The game could have swung either way right up until their goal, but we need to learn to keep the floodgates closed.

"I am pleased with the spirit of our team to keep the effort up throughout, despite going 4-0
down.

"There are certainly positive to take forward and we are very much so looking forward to facing Jewventus again this Sunday.

My money is on another Jewve win.

BRIXTON OLD BOYS vs SPEC FC
Improving Brixton B will be no pushover for a SPEC FC team well-placed to mount a sustained promotion push.

Daniel Selt’s men were edged out by Temple Fortune B last Sunday. Jason Lee was their scorer although it wasn’t the one who used to have a pineapple on his head!

With games in hand on the top two, Sunday is a must-win for Laurence Conway’s troops and I expect them to bring a healthy support to Clowes.

The partnership of Ricky Lawrence and Marc Hecht is proving to be one of the best in the division and with Craig Cohen waiting in the wings, I think this will be a key area on Sunday.

JC CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND TWO

GLENTHORNE UNITED B vs SHIRLEY PARK
One of the ties of the round sees Division Three title rivals Glenthorne B take on free-scoring Shirley Park.

Player-manager Craig Sandford helped the Thornes return to winning ways following the recent derby defeat against Chigwell with a hard-earned victory over Neasden C.

I expect Sunday’s battle to be even tougher against a Shirley team in top gear.

Saul Conway bagged another five goals in his pursuit of the Golden Boot in the 12-1 drubbing of JLGB. Now Shirley are favourites to finish as the top-scorers in the MSFL this season.

Both teams will be looking to land a big psychological blow ahead of two crunch meetings in the league.

Sparks could fly in a tie between two teams that are going places.

ATHLETIC BILBAUM vs NORTH WEST NEASDEN A
Bilbaum beware. That is the message coming out of the Neasden camp. I fear a big backlash as the NWN go into the tie on the back of two defeats against Hendon, which has really put a spanner in the works in terms of their title dreams.

Darren Yarlett, NWN's joint-manager, believed that "only one team played football' over the two games so he will be looking to set the record straight with a handsome victory on Sunday.

I expect Neasden to make great use of width in Hampstead on Sunday with the likes of Elliot Stern and Bradley Sharp key to their plans. It will certainly be a case of attack, attack, attack for the visitors on Sunday and I strongly advise Bilbaum to defend in numbers.

Mark Pasha's men warmed-up for the tie with an impressive 3-0 victory over FC Team C last Sunday.

Sam Roth (2) and Ben Bell did the damage as the team registered their first clean sheet of the season.

You can get 150-1 on Bilbaum shutting Neasden out. It's 2-1 Neasden scoring in the first 10 minutes with Ed Green 12-1 to score first.

Sunday is definitely one for the romantics. It's vital Bilbaum turn up believing they can win and don't give Neasden the red carpet treatment.

MONTANA BOCA UNITED vs FC TEAM C
I don't expect Montana to have too many problems against fourth division FC Team C on Sunday.

Viv Emanuel's troops were edged out 3-2 by Harmen B last Sunday so it's vital they run out comfortable winners here.

It certainly won't be a case of Montana just needing to turn up to win as FC Team have some very decent players.

James Sandler bagged a brace for Montana last week and his battle against FC Team giant Rob Sanford could be worth the admission fee alone.

With Trevor Henen back in action and club chairman Raymond Harrod having dusted away the cobwebs, home fans will be looking for their heroes to put on a real show.

FC Team will have a point to prove after being out-gunned 3-0 against Bilbaum last Sunday.

Manager Michael Myers will be slightly concerned that his team has failed to score in three games and I don't expect an experienced Montana team to give them an early Chanukah gift here.

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C vs CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI
If you're looking for an upset on Sunday, then this could be your game.

Raiders C are flying at the minute although manager Oli Shorts and Rich Abrahams would much rather be preparing their troops for a league clash.

They have looked the bees knees so far this season with goals coming from all over the park.

Last Sunday they hit Athletico Finchley for six, making it 20 goals in six games. Ben Hart and Darren Russell bagged brace with Rob Samuelson and Matt Bennett putting the icing on the cake.

Hart has really hit a purple patch of form while Bennett looks more polished by the game. He certainly looks set for a bright future in the game.

This tie has a real banana skin feel about it for Catford but I know they are capable of putting in a special display when it really matters.

There's every chance that Shorts could rotate his squad and look to give some of the fringe players a run-out.

He will still be desperate to win the game with confidence sky high and his players will need no motivation, pitting their wits against a team from a higher division.

Catford have several potential match-winners in their ranks. Young keeper Guy Ben-Aroya has been receiving rave reviews while Ashley Stokes and Eli Baraty provide moments of sheer inspiration.

One thing looks certain. This will be a great advert for Jewish football.

BRADY MACCABI B vs SOUTHGATE HARMEN A
Both Brady B and Harmen A go into the game nice and fresh after having last weekend off.

Josh Dagul's Brady have made a brilliant start to the season - winning four on the spin in the league and knocking the Masters out of the Morrison.

James Joseph and Reiss Mogliner are now firm favourites with the fans and they will be the men that Dagul looks to in terms of taking the fight to Harmen.

Experience comes in the form of Jonny Meltzer and Jerome Colmans who, no doubt, will be looking to take Harmen the distance.

Dan Uzan has put together a strong squad this season, with keeper Matt Davis and Craig Ellis his marquee signings.

Strikers Zack White and Alex Bourne will prove a handful for any defence in the MSFL with Bourne going into the game on the back of an impressive display for the club's B team last Sunday.

The pace, skill and energy of Nick Gold, Nicky Bord, Ben Harris and Adam Velleman ensure that Harmen will ask plenty of questions of the Brady defence, while the calming influence of Grant Taylor will look to nullify any chance of an upset.

I can see Brady giving as good as they get for an hour or so, but then Harmen will go into over-drive.

FC TEAM A vs BRADY MACCABI A
FC Team boss Mitch Young is keen to get last week's match against Lions out of his system.

He felt his team was wronged after they went down 4-3 in a highly-charged atmosphere.

But Young and co will have to put that to the back of their minds on Sunday when Premier Division rivals Brady come to town.

Richard Salmon, Craig Edwards and David Ossack registered for FC Team last Sunday, although Ossack went from hero to villain after being sent off.

Now Young is targeting a place in a cup final and having beaten Brady 2-0 earlier this month, it's no surprise that the bookies fancy them to edge it.

Simon Peterman and Salmon fired the bullets that sent Brady tumbling in the recent league meeting.

The draws have been unkind to Josh Rosenfeld's Brady this season, with North London Raiders A their opponents in the Peter Morrison Trophy.

But as tough as the draws might be, Rosenfeld knows that his boys are good enough and they fear no-one.

With Jonny Ellis, Steve Field, Josh Hershman, Alex Hershman and Jon Green in their ranks, they will be quietly confident of booking their place in the next round.

I can see Sunday being another close game with not many goals. I have a feeling that it could be settled by a moment of magic.

HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A vs GLENTHORNE UNITED A
Can anyone stop Hendon? That is the million dollar question being asked by supporters up and down the land right now.

My pre-season tips for the Premier Division title go into this tie on the back of back-to-back wins over Neasden A. They just couldn't ask to be in better form right now. As things stand, they could do a clean sweep this season but manager David Garbacz will be keen to take it one step at a time.

With Greg Corin and Danny Kon doing the business at one end and Russell Corin and Alex Rosenthal on top of their game at the other, it's hard to find a weak link anywhere in the team.

I expect them to register a hard-earned win on Sunday against an honest and hard-working Glenthorne team.

Dan Lipman's boys got back to winning ways in the league last weekend but they will find the Hammers a cut above.

I fully expect Glenthorne to huff and puff, but in the end, Hendon will blow their house down.

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS B vs TEAM JLGB

It won't take a genius to work out who I'm tipping for glory on Sunday.

Raiders B have just beaten Faithfold and not even the dreaded JC Manager of the Week curse will stop Rob Richman's men from going through here.

I've even had some Raiders fans asking where the nearest Rymans is to Brunel as they go in search of an abacus to keep tabs on the score.

Last Sunday David Dinkin and Dan Grossman scored the goals that earned the team what Richman described as their "best-ever victory in the MSFL". It was certainly a proud moment for the club. Dinkin has been one of the success stories of the season. He led Faithfold a merry dance.

Midfield maestro Elliott Espinoza put in a real shift. It's not every day that someone gets the better of Alex Levack but pocket rocket Esp gave a top-notch display, as did Stuart Haring and James Foley-Comer at the back. They put in a monster shift.

Squad rotatation could be the name of the game for Richman on Sunday and I expect him to tinker with his starting XI. That could mean a place for Aussie Daniel Garb.

JLGB are still recovering from the mental scars of a 12-1 thumping at the hands of Shirley Park. Player-manager Rob Silverman scored an absolute screamer which lifted spirits slightly but you have to fear for them on Sunday.

Playing on the carpet at Brunel, I can see Raiders scoring for fun and Dinkin filling his boots. He's only 7-2 to score a hat-trick.

Damage limitation could be the best bet for Silverman’s troops. I advise him to set up with a 1-6-3-0 formation on Sunday as another hefty defeat would be a real hammer blow.

But when all is said and done, a cricket score not out of the question.

NORTH WEST NEASDEN B vs NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A
First division Neasden B will be scenting an upset when they welcome Premier Division Raiders to Gosling on Sunday.

Neasden fans have had little to cheer about so far this season and they go into the game on the back of a 2-0 defeat against Chigwell in the league.

Manager Daniel Hodes has returned from a scouting mission to America, looking to unearth the next Clint Dempsey. So far, the best he could find was Jonny Blain who will be keen to impress against his former club.

Having joined Neasden last month, Blain has promised not to celebrate if he finds the net on Sunday against his former club. In fact, in true Mario Balotelli style, he could find himself asking: "Why always me?"

Raiders go into the game on a high after recording their first win of the season at Redbridge A of all teams.

The victory was long over-due and there was relief all round after Mark Leader passed a random drugs test after scoring a goal from his own half.

It was also the best game I've ever seen Danny Bloom play in a Raiders shirt and the management will be asking for more of the same.

The effort the team put in from 1-13 was something else, with Andrew McMaster and Adam Posner excelling in the role of super-sub.

Raiders' work ethic and spirit saw them come through a tough test last Sunday and they will need those qualities and much more to ensure they don't slip up here.

CAMDEN PARK vs BRIXTON OLD BOYS A
There's a real hum-dinger in store here as Division Two dream team Camden welcome first division Brixton A.

It was player-manager Josh Marks who inspired Camden to their fifth win of the season last week.

Richard Silver and Josh Toff were the marksmen in the 2-1 win over Faithfold B, with Richard Silver and Jake Saunders also coming in for special credit.

After the game, Camden's Nick Kagan told JC Sport: "It was a very big win. Faithfold were a well-drilled and impressive outfit, but our class told in the first half, and then some steely defending saw us home.

"Josh Marks was a man-mountain in central midfield ... combative, composed and clever, he led by example. After missing the whole of last season through injury, he's growing in stature every game.

"Richard Silver and Jake Saunders deserve mentions - a couple of fantastic creative performances as both showed signs of returning to their very best form, despite the latter reacquainting himself with last night's vodka after just 20 minutes."

At the same time, Brixton overcame a Mass FC side that had not lost a game in more than two years. John Nitka's troops came up trumps in extra time in the London FA Sunday Junior Cup, although one or two players may be carrying heavy legs as a result here.

The ever-reliable James Kaye was joined on the scoresheet by Rob Hershkorn (2) and Jamie Kent (2), and if the trio line up on Sunday, Nitka will be confident of averting an upset.

Nitka hailed his troops for a "fantastic performance" but they could not have asked for a tougher draw.

Both sides are packed with quality from front to back and I advise fans to arrive early as even though Mario Balotelli won't be there, there could be fireworks!

OAKWOOD vs LONDON MACCABI LIONS B
The Oakwood board are demanding a strong cup run this season and the team, co-managed by Ric Blank and Alex Schock, will be looking to fly out of the traps here.

Thumped 5-2 against Norstar last week, I expect the Oaks to put in a big display and show their true colours against second division opposition.

Two defeats against the Stars have dented promotion hopes but the visit of the Lions gives them a real opportunity to get those results out of their system.

Dan Ash is on fire at the minute and I can see him trying to take the game to the Lions. The experience of Eddie Manson will also be vital and I expect the home side to make good use of the huge playing surface at the biggest pitch in the MSFL.

The season has not gone as planned so far for the Lions but I expect them to put an experienced and capable team.

Will Beresford scored in the 2-1 defeat at the hands of FC Team B last weekend with manager Jamie Kyte hugely disappointed to come away empty-handed from a game they dominated.

Having correctly tipped the Lions to beat Glenthorne A in the Morrison a fortnight ago, I think possession will be nine tenths of the law on Sunday.

With that in mind, I expect the Oaks to come away smiling.

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B vs CHIGWELL ATHLETIC
There's a tasty all-Division One clash in store when leaders Chigwell make the shortest of trips to Fairlop to take on Redbridge B.

The team's have yet to play one another this season so there could be some added spice going into the game.

Redbridge were reflecting on an opportunity missed as they were held at home against Temple Fortune A in the league last Sunday.

They missed a host of chances on a day when they left their shooting boots at home. In the end, a strike from Dan Orgel was all they had to show for their efforts.

Chigwell have been going about their business quietly and efficiently in recent weeks, with star striker Glenn Michaels scoring for fun.

Dan Castle has also stepped up in terms of goals this season. Last Sunday he was joined by Craig Pearl on the scoresheet in the 2-0 victory over Neasden B.

Lee Hyams also had an excellent game and his big match experience will be crucial on Sunday.

It's clear that Richard Slater will take his Chigwell squad to Fairlop in confident mood.

Looking ahead to the crunch clash, Slater told JC Sport: "Local derbies are always games we look forward to, especially against a young RJC B side.

"We'll be rotating our squad this week and hopefully we can carry on our great form. I'm looking to our experience to see us into the next round."

So the battle between youth and experience is certainly an intriguing one. Squad rotation or not, I think Chigwell will have just too much know-how on the day.

SOUTHGATE HARMEN B vs FAITHFOLD C
Harmen B manager Marc Cohen believes his team can put together a strong cup run and they will be looking to lay down a marker against Faithfold C on Sunday.

The Southgate boys returned to winning ways last weekend when Ben Rosenblatt made it five goals in two games with a double in the win over Montana.

The team also benefitted from their A's not having a match, allowing striker Alex Bourne to join the party in a 3-2 win.

After the game, a delighted Cohen told JC Sport: "The boys played brilliantly. We should have won by more and the scoreline flattered Montana but I’m pleased to take the three points.

"The squad weren’t at full fitness, with Kershberg having a particularly painful looking scab and Bradley Cohen suffering from a late night but we all pulled together to get a thoroughly deserved win."

Faithfold were hit for six by Redbridge C last weekend with player-manager David Garson over-worked in goal.

The Superhoops have had little to cheer about in the league despite the best efforts of star striker Ben Simons.

Faithfold fans have yet to see the best of recent signing Richard Fogelman but if the pair link up on Sunday, they could cause Harmen one or two problems.

But the energy of Ilan Ben-Zion and Dan Amram will be a factor on Sunday and I'd be surprised if Harmen didn't book their place in the next round.

I certainly can't recall Joel Minsky's men conceding five goals in 90 minutes but the gaffer did not make any excuses at full time.

"It was much closer than the scoreline would suggests," he told JC Sport. "However, our defensive performance was well below par and probably the poorest we've put in since forming last year.

"When you defend like that, you can't expect your attackers to get you out of jail."

Things will not get any easier when they take on a Hendon team for the umpteenth time.

Managed by Motty Korman and Chaim Gothold, the Reds are flying right now. They must think this management lark is easy but an upset on Sunday could put a spanner in the works.

That said, confidence is sky high in the Hornets' camp and I think they will have too much for Los Blancos on the day.

Pinty Baddiel, James Josephs and Parys Hammond joined Korman and Chaim Gothold on the scoresheet in the 5-0 demolition of L'Equipe last weekend.

The display of Josephs gave Hendon fans a taste of the future. The boy is sheer class and he will be a big player for them this season.

Not even the heroics of Blancos keeper Josh Cohen will be enough to stop Hendon cruising through.
