HMH lose ground in title race after Oakwood stalemate

Oakwood started with great intent in the shape of an aggressive front three hoping to stop HMH playing. The hosts, playing with the wind at their backs, went closest when George Goldberg ran clean through and elected to square to Oscar Wagner instead of shooting but the ball ran away from the in-form striker.

Both teams created with good football but the final pass or touch was evading them whilst defences stood strong.

In the second half, with the gusts at their backs, HMH came out stronger, Sam Monjack started probing until he had to go off injured and as a result HMH fashioned a number of good chances, but a combination of good goalkeeping and last-ditch defending together with poor finishing from HMH  kept the score goalless. Whilst hmh had the better of the territory and possession, Oaks did have their chances too and a late free kick went wide and another move went just wide.

There was some late drama as Ethan Krell hit the bar in the dying seconds for HMH and Nate Kashket fired just wide. Despite the shortage of goals, this match was full of high quality, high-tempo football, played with the right attitude.
